hey id appreciate it if anybody's got some insight on this...and can help me out

i had intake, exaust, downpipe and midpipe on my fd...and obviously i was runnin lean...and it was gonna take a while 4 me gather the cash 4 a power fc... so i drove my car for bout 6 months always at low rpm (shiftin by 4500... 5000 max) .. i know, that's not smart

but anyways..now that i got my power fc, got the fuel mixture adjusted...car runs much more powerful.. but it "hesitates" or meets resistance whenever it goes over 5500 rpm...u can feel it both when pushing it slowly...and w/ WOT. it WILL go...i can redline it.. but i can FEEL resistance (no it's not knocking, cuz the power fc shows it's not runnin lean). its almost like the engine's strugglin.

one of my friends was tellin me it's prob just carbon buildup.. and it should slowly go away the more i push it...kinda like breakin in my engine for higher rpms..

anyone ever heard of somethin like that be4?

thanx

i dunno if this makes a diff...but it's not a single spot where it hesitates, like the cold start 3000 rpm hesitation.

i mean a hesitation or resistance starting at about 5500 - 6000 rpm.. and it CONTINUES throughout the powerband..to redline.

What does your boost look like? There is a possibility of the carbon bulid up. It you run in for a drive on the highway it should clean it up though. If you boost is not well then check for cracked hoses to your CRV and BOV. Thats what I found out why I had no power.

FDNewbie 08-13-2003 01:47 PM

first..wut's CRV? lol

sorry..like it says..im a newbie

second..im boostin 11s or 13s..dependin on my setting on the power fc. so looks good.

my BOV is brand new. just put on an HKS.

i have been runnin the car on the highway..but i dont redline it when normally drivin. the other nite tho i did push it hard...a cpl of times. i cant tell if it's gettin better or not, but the hesitation is still there...

Danno 08-13-2003 01:56 PM

The crv is the valve that looks just like the stock BOV but it is futher back alsmost under the strut bar. It is what allows your first turbo to boost. I had to replace the rubber hose connecting the CRV to the turbos because the hose got so hot it turned into plastic almost.

Anyways when did you do the HKS BOV? If you did that when you did the PFC then you might have made an error.

Not that I am saying you don't know what your doing because I had to fix manythings when i did my HKS BOV.

FDNewbie 08-13-2003 02:08 PM

actually..i didnt do the BOV myself. i had a friend who's got years experience w/ 3rd gen fds do the BOV and tune the power fc

sounds like a spark issue... change your spark plugs..

Make sure the PFC is set for seq or nonseq.. whichever you have.

Also turn off your O2 Feedback.. check for vacuum leaks...

FDNewbie 08-13-2003 02:59 PM

actually i thought there mite b a vacuum leak cuz when the car is in neutral (it's a manual) .. it doesn't really idle...the revs bounce up and down.. they vary considerably..about 750 rpm... almost like someone keeps revvin the engine, then lets off the gas..then revs it again..etc

papasmurf 08-13-2003 04:48 PM

whenever you install a pfc it will hunt like that, and when you change something and drive it differently it will do it again. if you had a vac leak have the engine on and listen for air being pushed out by the uim or turbos, if you dont hear anything it may be a cracked vac line. but that wouldnt explain the high rpm stuff, that would just explain the idle.
