i am looking to buy a 3rd gen. rebuildable but i have never worked on a rotary engine i have built up other turbo cars such as the eclipse and swaped motors on hondas but now i want a real car. i found a car for sale and i wanted to know if someone can help me decide if this car is worth it to start this project and how much i should be looking to pay around for this car even though i know you cant really tell from pictures as well here's the description...... thanks for the help







1993 Madza Rx7 twin turbo, red w/black leather, 5 speed, sunroof, and Bose factory cd w/ the acoustic wave system. I bought this car from a local auction. It appears tbut when carfaxed it has salvaghat someone has removed some parts from it. It does NOT run. It has a clean Maryland title e history about 3years ago mileage on title 120,xxx but can't see exact due to wire missing.

wow took a looked at the car and let me say good luck body wise.



As far as engines go the tools alone will cost you about 500- 1000 bucks.



So my recommdation is just shipout the engine to Atkins or Pineapple



spend the extra 1500 that you would save by doing it youself and have no worries about it in the future. The rotary is a differnet beast and something not to be taken lightly espesially with the twin turbo. anyways just spend you time on the body and let the engine get to you after your finish with the car and plop her in. i think in the long run that will be the best. Since you have only 2 remarks in your reply(newbie) if you had about 200 to 300 then i would say go for the adventure. i just don't want to see you have to spend the money twice on a engine and be pissed off with the car. Enjoy it and read the website to help you along . the extra money that you spend now will be worth it.

From what I can tell an experienced body shop could get that looking like new with no problems. Let me warn you though, the parts for these cars are EXPENSIVE!!!!!!!!! Every single part is priced VERY high. Turn signals are $200 each, headlights are $500 each, the hood is $800, even the dinky factory intercooler is $1,500! You can find most of these parts used or buy better aftermarket versions though. I wouldn't get that one just because you have no way of knowing what else is wrong with it. You may get it all fixed to find that it needs a new transmission and the wires are all melted and screwed up. My advice is to find one that has a blown motor but other than that is in very good condition. That way you have a better chance of coming out without problems you didn't count on.

I saw that car on ebay. Under the hood looked like a lot of parts were missing. For the right price it would be a nice project but I'd hate to tackle it with my very limited knowledge... Good luck if you go for it.

Maybe buy a front-cut of a jap car (cost Aus$3500-4500 here) and that should have all the parts you need.



If you can get them at a reasonable price in the US. Some parts will be different being RHD, but most are interchangeable.

I've seen that car. It's not to far from wher I live. It is best bought as a parts car and not a project car.

The body is pretty bad off and the rest is just as neglected.
