When ever I get off the highway i smell brning oil but when i check my oil it is not low or has not changed at all. anyone got any ideas? I hope if I gotta fix this its not expensive.

you need to look under the car, it could be the oil pan, the o rings under the oil filter adaptor, those are the most likely leakers

Like mike said. Most rotaries develop leaks by the oil pan around the gasket area.I've seen lots of rx's that develop them there.

THe thing is though that I smell it but I check the oil and it is not low and has not changed level. Maybe its that smaal of a leak I don't know. When I move my car there is no oil sots on the ground.

mine was seeping from the pan (it prolly still is lol) and it basically leaks onto the exhaust, hence the smell

I have 96,000 Miles on it. I smell the oil burning when I get off the highway like you said you saw smoke when you got off the freeway.

That is almost exactly how many miles were on mine at the time.. there is no way to know for sure though until you get the car up in the air and look underneath it. Even then it is tough, it took me a while to track mine down exactly. The oil was leaking slowly while driving, it would fly under the car and collect all over the cat and undercarriage.. then it would burn off the cat and create the smoke.
I saw your other thread, sorry to hear about your accident. Sounds like it's time for a 99 front end/lights. :bigok: Matt |
