I blew a bulb in my FD I upgraded my lens to one of those ebay projector lights that replace the stock unit. it still flips up and all I just have a projector replacement and it uses 9007 bulbs, anyways I love it its a heck of a lot brighter and I still have the stock look when just driving around.. Anyways I blew a bulb today sometime I guess my mother noticed I had a bulb out. I am going to order some nice Piaa bulbs that are 8000K temp and supposed to be super kick arse bulbs.. anyways I can get 55/80w bulb set or 75w/105w bulbs in the 9007 style for the temp i want.. I of course want the more wattage one..

Will it melt my wiring or can I get away with running the higher wattage bulb? I can deal with the stock rating bulb but Id like to get a lil brighter without changing anything else I just dont want to melt down my wiring doing it... Would I be safe to up to the higher wattage bulb since I dont drive my car much anyways at night if I drive it at all..

I know many might think its cheap or whatnot but I really am happy with it, and it is a heck of a lot brighter and clearer than a stock replacement.. too bad I blew a bulb https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/angry.gif i just posted that just in case you guys didnt follow what i ment when I said headlight upgrade on my car.. what bulbs guys??!!

Don't get the high wattage bulbs.. It will heat up too hot and **** will happen.

My recommendation is to keep the stock bulbs or similar wattage or save up and get HID replacement.

I put HIDs on my Blk FD 2-3 years ago and was very pleased (I haven't driven it in 2 years:))

the HID's I can score a set of replacement setup on ebay for like 120 shipped with the ballast of the temp i choose and wiring and all, I may just save and grab them. I like the HID look but I really didnt want to swap over ill prob just stick to the stock bulb wattage or as close to it as I can find..

Thanks Herb.

Sorry I had to think about this tonight cause I was bored but couldnt I just upgrade the stock wiring to the bulbs and run the higher wattage or add a extra power source through a relay so it will only turn on when the lights are on so the stock wiring wont have the full burden of powering the higher wattage bulbs? kinda like what some people do with multiple amp systems for stereos? I dont see why that couldnt work and be a lot cheaper than going to HID's? and yes I know HIDs are still way better but im stubborn like that lol...

I will, ill stop by my parts crib and see if i have relays that can supply enough power and ill wire it up and take some readings and get some wire temp also if i can find a thermocoupler small enough to attach to the wires.
