I just got a FD on stock turbo (parallel) with the wolf 3D ecu. the problem i'm having is that the motor will sometime just shut down on me around 3k-5k rpms. it seems to be temperature related but i don't know. somedays the car runs great, others it just keeps cutting off. for instance, when i warm up the car and if i rev it a bit the motor will cut off. also if i'm on the highway and down shift the car will rev and then shut down. the car runs really lumpy with a low idle when i let off the gas as well. any ideas would be great....i'm starting to regret getting an FD over a supra.

Help....

Paul

Fuel Filter. I'd check that first. See if the ECU is throwing a code too.

i live in Cleveland ohio. the fuel filter is suppose to come in today and i'll change that asap. hopefully thats the problem....if not i have no idea. i usually warm the car up to ~75 degrees before i drive it every morning, and sometimes when i get on the onramp to go to work the car just shuts down. i think its a boost map problem but i'm not too sure. i've only gotten to rev the car past 5k once since i got it. everyother time the car just shuts down. the guy who sold me the car had it tuned for warmer weather (florida), so maybe that the problem?? he also told me that the car might be getting to much fuel and thus it floods the motor. what confuses me is that its cold up here and should the car be running lean then? argh, this car is such a hassle...this is my first RX7, and at this rate it might be my last https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.png

any advice would be greatly appreciated...

thanks

Should be pretty difficult to flood the engine at 5000 RPM bad enough to cause it to quit. Does it come back on by itself? Or do you have to pull over and try to restart it?

I think if the fuel filter idea doesn't pan out (running too lean because of blockage) you need to find a tuner familiar with the Wolf and basically have them go over your car and maybe re-tune with a wideband https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif

Thanks guys!! I just changed the fuel filter and i poured fuel thru the old filter and nothing seeped thru. i guess that was the problem....i'm so happy...thanks for all the help. now i can boost the car!! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683329.gif

also i got one more questions....since i'm premixing the car (1 oz per gallon) b/c the previous owner removed the OMP (due to the WOLF 3D) is the premix causing the clogged fuel filter??

thanks

Yes and no. I don't think premix particles are large enough to get trapped in the filter element itself. I would wonder, however, if it would adhere to the element. Probably not, because gasoline is so costic.. Anyone know for sure?
