Ok so last night I went to go start my car last night.... it started fine, but the engine was running really rough and took abnormally long to start getting warm. Anyway so I start driving and as I push the gas the car fights back and doesn't really want to go, and it took a good five minutes till it was running normally. So I really was/am confused at first I though my engine was blown but it wouldn't start running right after a few minutes on the road.... or would it? It was really cold last night and I'm still running 20w50 which I was going to change to 10w30 today, could that be one reason for this or am I way off and it's something more serious. Please help me out

the oil weight, which i have noticed, does make the turning over somewhat harder, but is not the warming issue.



a mtr with a cracked, broken, or failed seal, will be problematic upon starting, and be really rough at low idle points.....i noticed this when i had a pair of broken seals last year....when the car warms however, it *seems to run fine, but tends to stall when approaching a stop, of lower RPM ranges.



i do not know what the rest of your symtoms are, but it could be a number of things....i know that b/c i do not have the air pump or any of the emmisions crap left on my car, and that it has a street port, that it warms up a little 'lumpy' or more rough that when it was closer to stock....





check the things that it could be, and make sure that you are not throwing any codes.....



if you are able, do a compressin check on it...

that too, but mainly if you are running 9's or higher.....they foul more easily...

Basically here are the full symptoms. Bit slower of a startup, but not much. It idles very differently instead of being a constant beat of the same sound it's one higher one lower almost like something is skipping. Very roughly. As the car starts to warm I drove it and as I accelerated it hit a certain point where I had no more power and the car would not accelerate so I had to shift early. (around 3k) Anyway after the car fully warmed everything ran correctly. So I was going to order new plugs anyway this week, now I'll just make it a priority, as well as changing the oil to a lighter weight. I'll let you guys know if it works.



r_xplicit where do I find the mtr to check the seals, do you have the p/n for mazda for the seals? thanks

i had a similiar problem about a year ago.......... my start took like 5 seconds at least, and the revs on idle cant stay stable, i replaced the spark plugs and wires and after that it was working like normal again.

double check all of your plugs and wires. there aould also be an issue with one of your leading coils, but then again, double check the wire connection there.

well i talked to the guy I bought the car from.... they're still the original plugs so they need replacing anyway with my current mods, intake downpipe, exhaust I would run stock plugs but I'll be getting a new radiator, IC, midpipe, pfc, and a new fuel system should I go ahead and upgrade? or just stay as is for now? I read the link on mazdatrix but i'm still a bit confused. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
