Ok guys, the girlfriend and I are thinking of making some nice new, never made (to our knowledge) carbon fiber pieces.
We are thinking of making complete replacements for the doors, quaterpanel pieces, speaker covers, divider, and possibly the bins. The bins would probably not be functional, instead would be like a panel back there, we could possibly make a workable bin. As you know, making molds isn't cheap, so we want to guage the interest to see if anyone would be interested in buying these pieces. We're talking maybe $400-500 for both door panels. The panels would fully replace, not overlay the factory ones. However it will not have the black plastic pieces, such as the handle and windowswitch thingy.. lol Since nobody to my knowledge makes complete replacements instead of overlays, we're trying to see if anyone would be interested. SO now you can have a complete CF interior. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif |
im down
|
eventually i mean
|
Hell yeah.
|
hell yea, can you make the center consol peice also ? i know its already been made but i mean, ill buy that to, door panels are a little to much for me i kinda like my stock ones, but im down for some other interior peices that would be CF ,
|
oh, and do you think its possible to make replacments for the triangles (the peices near the mirror on the outside, and the pieces inside) and also for the door handle covers (outside and inside, and yes im aware that feed makes the outside covers already but figured i can probley get it cheaper if its made here in america https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR ) thanks
|
that sounds sweat sign me up https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
|
that would be a cool idea good luck
|
If i ever get money i'd be interested in some of that stuff. Esp door handles, those triangle pieces, and dash, and consol by the shifter all that stuff.
|
yea i need new triangles anyway, and door handles are always pimp hah, but feed is a little to much for some carbon fiber overlay door handles
|
well there already is a guy that does the triangles and door handles.. don't really want to copy anything he does just yet.. his are overlays, but aren't sticky overlays..
|
sign me up!

Dude, if you're good at this CF ****, then why not try and make two things EVERYBODY would want at a good price. Complete doors, and the rear hatch.
|
Carbon Fiber
- replica fenders (Panspeed, RE-A) - replica FEED rear quarter panels - replica Panspeed, RE-A, Pettit rear fender flares. - replica Panspeed doors - replica RE-A undersweep for N1 bumper - 3 gauge holder for radio din slot (like the SAAB) - replica Knightsports type V front bumper - replica mazdaspeed shift knob & brake handle for Bathurst edition - Damd side skirts |
exterior pieces would need a special resin and polyurethane over it... it would be a bit expensive... plus i would have to have the original to make a mold of... and being that i'm a hobbyist and not a manufacturing plant... it would cost a lot....
|
OK, just these peices then?
- 3 gauge holder for radio din slot (like the SAAB) - replica mazdaspeed shift knob & brake handle for Bathurst edition Oh, and something i'd really like and i'm sure would sell... If you take apart the PFC commander and mount the screen and buttons to a recatngular peice of carbon fiber and then fit it in the ashtray hole. So basically, a carbaon fiber recangular peice that fits snugly covering the ash tray hole (ash tray removed) and has the holes for the screen and buttons for the cammander. |
sounds like a good idea, but it will be very time consuming and costly to make a good mold. have you ever made anything out of fiberglass before, let alone carbon fiber? your price of 400-500 will increase drastically once you really undertake this project
go racer, we can still see your posts without you changing every other word to italics. |

Lay the **** off of people, mind your own business and relax. |
i'll prolly make a DIN panel.. but like i said.. its going to take a while..
no i've never worked with fiberglass before.. and i'm aware that making molds is costly.. but if i can sell 2 sets after completion.. then i can make my money back. Thats why i'm guaging the interest. Its going to be a couple months, as i'm a full time student, full time employee and full time boyfriend.. so what little time and resources i have will go to completing my side project. If you WANT something special, i'd need an original to make a mold of. I'm not at the stage where i can craft things from my barehands https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png So if i've got some interest... i'm willing to make somethings, but it will take some time https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png Thanks everyone! |

And we all can still see that you're an *******, and get this, you don't have to change **** in order for that to happen.

OK for those who REALLY want CF stuff . Here some real good stuff.
If you never worked with FRP before, dont try CF first. Try gelcoating, cutting and rolling roven woven in a fast setup and then making the proper mold ribs is not easy.smells will get you brain fried(1st time) and will likely cost you a couple hundred if you mess up. But I highley recommend getting www.fibreglast.com videos on this stuff. |
check with air tech and arc plastics, they will give you samples. do alot of research before you even try to make a mold. do you want to vacuum bag the items, what resins are you going to use, etc?
alot of this is trial and error. you are probably gonna spend a couple hundred dollars and make at least half a dozen crap molds before you get something that will work. be patient and like l8t apex said, please read the MSDS and follow the safety precautions. |

Theres something unprecedented u could make a mold of! Id definitely want one of those to mount some **** on! |
I'll gladly take over the boy friend duty if need be https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

when you want the money?
|
anything that gets rid of the cheapass, squeaky, lowgrade beancounter plastic that sucks the life out of the 3rd gen interior I will buy. It has to be cheaper than the OEM stuff.
I'll buy a set when they are ready |
