In my new Importuner, yes i know its a lame magazine, they have some dyno runs of an Fd that gained 7hp to the wheels. So anyone want to raise the flag? Too bad they are like $100+ or i might try them on my fc.

j9fd3s 10-28-2002 05:28 PM

maybe the car they tested had big problems?

just make your own ground kit, super easy

They didn't GAIN 7hp so much as RECOVER it. You'd be surprised what works better when everything is properly grounded.

true FDs usually have a lot to recover, in one of my turbo mags i saw an increase of 35rwhp just by a silicone hose job https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

I made my own set.. I grounded the stock grounds, both rotor housing, the altenator, and the right and left sides of the engine compartment with 8 guage cable in to a ground block with 4 guage cable going strait to the - batt terminal..

that YMCA tribute is funny as hell

Fd3BOOST 10-29-2002 07:00 PM

Thats alot of grounds Dragon. I am not following you all the way though. Why ground the housings, etc.?

Dragon 10-30-2002 12:59 AM

the coils and spark plugs and two stock grounds in the wiring harness ground to the rotor housings, so I grounded them directly to the battery and the altenator..

SPOautos 10-30-2002 12:29 PM

Hey Dragon, could you provide some pics or some good detailed info on this? I'm installing my motor this weekend and with everything apart it should be pretty easy for me to do.

The only thing is I'm pretty much all thumbs when it comes to electrical, its just not my thing.

Something I'm doing a little different is I'll probably be moving my coils over to a fender. You said the coils were grounded but I didnt notice any ground wires. Are they grounded seperatly or is it like all these parts to into the wire harness and the harness has a ground that grounds them all.

Thanks,

STEPHEN

Dragon 10-30-2002 05:06 PM

You can check out my single turbo post and kind of see them... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/index.php&...=5824&st=25&hl= They are Yellow and the main ground block is on the left inner fender, one grounds to altenator bracket, one to the right inner fender and there are 2 more that are hard to see that run under the intake and ground to the 12mm bolt holes on each rotor housing...

blaze08 10-31-2002 10:26 PM

yeah i've heard that our stock grounding sucks. I'm going to add extra ground wires next week.

That picture would be nice to see though Dragon. Oh and yeah the ground going to the coils is part of the wire harness.

Yep still waiting on the sensors... It seems like everyone and their mom bought these things at the same time and bought Napa and everywhere else out.. Hell I even checked at Honda here in Japan and they were on back order (and $400) like I'd pay that anyway.. but we'll see eventually..

Actionhank 11-29-2002 12:32 AM

One on the engine below the spark plugs near the oil pan, almost directly under the A/C compressor, two more on the rear rotor housing under the stock coil packs, one on the fire wall right behind where the upper and lower intake manifold bolt together, one under the relay/fuse block on the left shock tower, and one more on the case/mount on the computer... That's all the main ones I can think of off the top of my head...
