sorry for posting so many compairisons, but i might as well ask since ill be buying one or the other...which is more efficient, and better: the greddy or r1 oil coolers?

GoRacer 08-27-2003 06:52 PM

Well thats kind of silly comparison. the Greddy is alot larger and therefore better. The Greddy kit is sold in pairs and you only need one cooler to make and R2 setup. You can also buy just one crooked willow or peice together your own 2nd cooler.

I just got in a Trust Oil cooler set-up, the biggest they make with the thermostat too. Pretty sweet, I will get some pics for you. Yes though like GORACER said, they are much bigger.

im sure you have to put price into consideration, cuz greddy will probably cost you a lot more, since you can get r1 coolers used

If you do all the work yourself, a pieced together kit from summit racing will cost you around $300~ not including shipping. I have the 25 row setrab and it's twice as large one stock oil cooler.

The oil coolers are the biggest Trust makes, complete with the thermostat which will help your temps stay lower vise the little bit cheaper kit, that doesnt have it.

Its $1270 shipped.

gee christ. my whole kit cost me $200 used. One 25 row with a fan. and my Oil temps are significantly lower than any dual R1 oil cooler set.

boredfast 08-29-2003 01:37 PM

bear with me guys, but I have a Q. Since the coolers sit about level with the oilpan, isnt there still old oil in them if you simply drain the oil in the pan? would the old oil be a problem?

r0t0r-rooter 08-29-2003 06:30 PM

You will always have oil remaining in the oil cooler... for the duals it's ~ 1 qt. left over. That's why you need to change the oil just a bit more frequently, as you are only changing 80%or so. :(

Another thing to keep in mind with adding an oil cooler kit is some sort of ducting...
