I just bought my '93 like two days ago.. so I'm not too familar with it yet. The exhaust over heat meachnism. What exactly does it do?

Whenever I release my hatch, the hatch unlocks fine.. but doesn't go up.. I have to manually lift it up. Is it suppose to go all the way up when released?

Anyone have any suggestions on a rear spoiler?

Does anyone know if the JIC titanium exhaust (power increase and sound wise) is any good?

What's a good fuel pump?

I thought about getting the M2 twin turbo upgrade. Anyone found a dyno or anything good about it yet?? What hp can I expect from it?

My goal is about 450hp. And would like to stay with the twins... if possible..?

thanks alot.

The exhaust overheat light just lights up when your cat gets too hot.

The hatch should not go up on its own.

Spoilers are a matter of taste. I like the 15th anniversary wing, stock,or no wing at all, but that's just me.

The JIC is suppossed to be really good. Just ask Jspecracer7.

The supra fuel pump is usually enough for most people.

No one has a good dyno of the M2's yet.

450 is gonna be pretty hard on the twins.

Goodluck

Will 450 be hard with the M2's or another twin turbo upgrade? (of course w/ other mods)

thanks

P'cola did a pretty good job of answering all your questions, I just want to ammend one thing. The exhaust temp overheat b.s. light doesn't necessarily go off when the cat gets too hot. It's just a sensor on the passenger side of the transmission tunnel. If it sees a certain temp, it lights up. Usually, when the pre-cat or main cat gets clogged but it can happen for other reasons.

If you're hitting the exhaust warning on the car, its best to keep moving to circulate fresh air through the engine bay. Downpipes and radiators are the most efficient mods to keep those temps down. It depends on the car, though. Mine was fine all summer long, driving it around residential and city zones. Never got an overheat signal.

The hatch shouldn't go up, but a few times, I've pulled the release switch and while I was sitting in the car, it raised by itself, probably due to wind. Its probably best that it requires manual effort to raise incase it were to open while driving. Happens when people don't close it all the way.

Rear spoiler is an aerodynamic accent for your car. Its probably best to follow a theme. For example...you don't want to get an RE-A GT2 style spoiler on a 3rd gen that has no other aerodynamic parts installed. It would look misproportional. Mixes like a 15th/Racing Beat/99-spec wing and 99-spec lip or 15th font end would look decent together. You just don't want to over do the car in one area. If you're planning to do a full kit eventually, do the bumpers and skirts before you put a wing on if the wing is going to be a weapon of mass downforce. That way it won't look like you're trying to fly the car like a kite.

Jspecracer7 has the JIC and videos are on Vosko's site. It sounds pretty mean, but then he's also got full open exhaust. Another thing is that he only paid $120 for his. If you're on a budget, you might want to think of something else that's less than $535 without shipping. There's a lot of exhausts out there that will get the job done for cheaper, especially when you don't need the extra piping diameter when you're first getting started.

Fuel pumps: HKS, A'PEXi, Nippondenso, Cosmo, Walbro, or stock Supra pump will work fine. Only difference is the amount of over kill you'll be working with and the price you'll pay to have it. Regulators, rails, and injectors are the things to do your math on when you upgrade.

M2 twins should be a good investment if you're not crazy about waiting for the high end to kick in on a single (unless you plan on running non-seq). You wouldn't want to invest that much money in a set of them if you were planning on going non-seq, as they would perform very similar to a single, only cost more and include a more complicated setup under the hood. 450hp is a lot to be asking, especially from twins. That's usually single territory. If you're just getting started, I'd recommend you think about a lower number than that. FD's have plenty of power for their weight stock. If you go and add 200 horsepower to the wheels, it'll be a very dangerous car if you don't have the experience. You'll have to invest a good amount of money in parts to transfer that power to the ground. I wouldn't recommend going for big power all the time if the car is your daily driver.
