yea so got my fd running today, woo woo. in a bit of a rush right now but figured id throw some random q's out there

1) should a brand new turbo on a brand new motor spool at idle? like should it be spinning? is it normal to stick at idle a bit when its brand new?

2)the odometer is finicky, the mileage and tripmeter work, but then turn off, but come on again, where should i be looking for the wires for that? the car was swapped from auto to manual, everything else works and when the odomoeter does turn on it works fine.

3)Driver's side harness, by the starter, theres a big ground strap where does this bolt too? i cant figure it out, it doesnt seem to effect the odometer (which was my first thought) but i figure i should get it grounded lol.

4) Passenger side harness has two main grounds near the back of the TB i put one to the trans (empty bolt hole on top of trans) and then one i put under the nut for the UIM...is this where they go or am I wrong?

help.. please.

turbo should spin at idle, if its locking up that is bad

thats what i figured.

make sure youve got the connector on the back of the cluster completely clicked in..

the ground strap bolts onto the lowest bolt hole right above the oil pan if i recall...

the two ground straps.. one out of the harness bolts by the passenger side backend of the UIM

the other should have a black connector at the end that clips to the firewall and the opposite end bolts to the UIM engine mount bolt.

id go look but dont feel like climbin the lift... other fd motor not installed yet...

The Black clip one from the hoist to the firewall i have

The driver's side one I'm still looking for a bolt that it fits in, should find it today lol

then i have 2 out of the pass harness, both relatively close to each other and both are two wires with eyelets.

one of those i put to an empty 10mm hole on top of the trans and the other i put on the bolt on the UIM closest to the firewall.

I think the drivers side ground is why my tripmeter/odometer isnt working, or well is working when it wants to, i never removed the cluster, hell i dont even know how to get back there.

Yeah the turbo should be spinning. Got your oil feed all worked out?

can you move the compressor around? What weight oil are you running?

Are you running an oil restrictor? Even without oil pressure it should spin.

Strange things are afoot at the Circle-K.

teknics 04-09-2007 12:31 PM

its spinning at idle now.

got a minor leak at the iron's oil feed fitting...i think its either there or the line coming out the oil tube, i will figure it out later.

on the other hand this odometer is pissing me off.

just got it registered and about to go load a better starter map that chuck made me, if anyone knows him.

They are just grounds. It doesnt matter where you ground them off at so long as they are grounded. I think one you mention is the one that goes under the coil rack. Like I said though it doesn't matter where you ground them at, it's all the same.

yea got everything grounded today, odometer is still intermittent and now i have an in termittent brake light failure.

car runs nice tho https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif
