So I went on this long adventure down from columbus, ohio to maryland to sell my FC, to virginia to pick up my motor, and to NC to get the shell.

Once in virginia, the guy I got my parts from (his name is fritz flynn from rx7club) he offered me this BNR stage 2 turbo for 300 bucks. Said the manifold needed a bit of work but he'd let me have em for that much. I said ok fine sure whatever, we were doing this at 5 am because we'd been driving all night and he woke up early to come meet us as we were headed to NC to get the shell.

Well I get it back home, get it to a friend of mine at the rx-7 store (his name is mike, so NOT xavier or jason working on my whip) and he put my wiring harness back on for me. Low and behold we go to put the y pipe on the turbos and it won't fit. Kept checking it out and were wondering well why the hell won't it mate up? I called brian down at BNR and he said that the stock y-pipe should fit fine on a stage 2. I described it to him and what not and he said "ha that's not a stage 2, it's a stage 3. It needs to have the y-pipe modified in order to fit on there." Mike and I both looked at each other and started laughing. After all the hassle i went through to get this car back up here and together, at least SOMETHING nice happened. We checked the turbos out completely, and everything else is fine. Even the manifold isn't as thrashed as I thought it was, just a couple hair line things that needed touching up.

So, for 300 bucks, I got a $2600+ turbo. Yeah.... I need to get some more things now. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/blush.png

Way to go. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png A few years back I scored some OEM new in box twins for $400.

nice buy!! make sure they are really bnr's.... although if they not, but are in great shape, even stock twins can go for that much.

I don't think Fritz would have called them BNR's if they were not. Sounds like he just was not aware that they were stage III's

FikseRxSeven 04-14-2005 10:23 AM

well fritz is very reputable.. but the comment about it being stockers was just a side note

yeah he just wasn't aware they were stage 3's, that was all
