Hey guys,

Does anyone know how to wire the fog lights so they go on with the parking lights?

Also, has anyone wired the headlights so you can turn them on even if they aren't proped up yet?

(so the head light beams face down for a cool and useless effect).

Yeah, I was wondering how to do that fog light deal too. I thought you would just disconnect the foglight wire from the switch and splice it with the parking lights or splice a wire between the two so you could go either way. Since my electronics experience is lacking and I keep getting an out of office reply whenever I try to EMAIL the Wiring Gnomes I'll just have to hope someone replys to this post.

Yup.. just wire the fog light relay trigger into the parking light signal wire (not the actual power wire).

it is important to understand that unlike most auxillary light systems, where the fog/driving lights are powered by a relay, the fogs draw their power directly from the switch. Normally, this would overdraw the switch (too much current), but Mazda overbuilt the switch to handle the current.

Don't hook higher wattage fogs/driving lights directly to the factory wiring, you'll blow the switch.

Okay.. that was confusing. let me draw a schematic for you tonight. i'll post later.

great....please include as much detail as you can like wire color....

pics?

is there a way to regulate the current better or maybe even add a cicuit breaker

rather than letting the switch handle all the extra current?

thanks

Jesus, you're kinda whiny, aren't you? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

I'm working on the schematic right now, but to be honest, I'm really busy with other stuff. It may be tonight before I get anything posted, can it wait a day??

Uh, and I'll at least label the wires, not sure about color.

MDoMe7 02-19-2003 10:38 PM

oh yeah...take your time...

i didn't mean to be picky (whiny as you described it)

but just like everyone else on this board, i'd rather put in the

extra effort/money for a better quality setup for my FD =)

no hurry

jpandes 03-26-2003 10:50 AM

Here ya go.

If you want to do it really easy you can just pull up your center console and splice the RED wire with a YELLOW stripe to the RED wire with a BLACK stripe. Splice the end comming off the switch. The only downfall to this is that the interior lights will dim a little, not too bad I dont mind it... once again this is why it is the easy way.

isn't there a whole write up on this on Lightning in a world of thunder on how to do the "daytime fog lights?"
