Welp i have my next purchase worked out (PFC) but after that I think im going to pick up either a profec b or a FMIC. I haven't seen many things being said about intercoolers so I figured id post and ask what people are running and what's the easiest route as far as cash and install or either or, is the way to go. Post up pics also if you have any.

well depending on you welding abuility for the piping either way works just fine.

getting a custom cooler made up is alot cheaper depending on who makes it for you but then , making the cooler pipes can take some skill, unless you have someone else do it for you wich defeats the purpous of buget .

but i prefurr custom myself.

welding alum = hardest thing EVER

i built my own setup.... the piping was a bitch. Unless you are a welder... or have a freind that is.... jsut get a kit. You'll be glad you did when it basically bolts right in.

depends on what you're going for too. theres a lot of was to make ur own. if your just talking a ebay intercooler some U-bends moderate welding and a bunch of couplers u could be looking at what like 350-450 depending on size of intercooler quality of clamps and couplers and ability to make the best of the least when it comes to piping. my friend just did that on his camaro and spend around 350-400. the downsize is that the piping is snaking all over, the intercooler is small and the inlet and outlet are not in the best position and there are a lot of couplers. but then again thats on a budget. to do it right might cost you closer to 450 for the right intercooler (you could just get a spearco core and ducts). but then is it really worth the hastle.

i payed 600 for a used greddy 2 row fm which for the money was worth it to me. i cant weld and have very little patience for custom piping. it might have been more expensive but the quality of the piece made up for everything.

i say look for used stuff first but why not just price out wat you need for a custom and compair. just remember as long as there arent any holes or dents in a used intercooler its exactly the same as brand new and a fraction of the price.

my vote, go used
