we fixed the fuse and it fired right up

now the car idles...but it jumps... like.... 900-1.5... then again...again...again... then 1.5-2...again again again...back to 900-1.5

i took it for a drive and it kept it at 2k....so even in gear i could only go 2k

what in the car would do that.....

also...what are those 2-4 electrical connectors UNDER the UIM.. that plug into the sides and underside

apexkw 02-11-2004 01:24 PM

one is the air temp sensor. 2 are for the aws.

apexkw 02-11-2004 01:27 PM

i had a jumping idle like what you are descriibing and it was a vacuum leak. i ended up finding that two of the vacuum taps on the uim i had capped had broken or dissapeared. my car's idle liked to jump around from 900-2k and alot of the time it would just idle around 2k

FrestyleFC3S 02-11-2004 01:51 PM

hmm...ok ill check out the vac situation...i swear i looked everywhere heh.....

unless we cut and capped some of the wrong ones ...

Sinful7 02-11-2004 02:29 PM

Try spraying carb cleaner in and around the vacum lines.. if the idle jumps, the line is loose!

twinturborx7pete 02-11-2004 02:49 PM

make sure that the nipple on the LIM is capped, make sure the MAP sensor is in. The 2 nipples on the back are capped or looped together.. and there is also 2 in the front and one big one for the PCV.. if you are keeping it or not.

Make sure the temp sensor is plugged in as well.. and ur TPS.

FikseRxSeven 02-11-2004 06:51 PM

there are 3 nipples at the back of the intake manifold facing the firewall, howmany should be capped?

turbovr6 02-11-2004 07:25 PM

2, the 3'd is for the map sensor

FikseRxSeven 02-11-2004 11:28 PM

i have good idle now

the only thing that doesnt work properly is the spark plug wires and the extreme loudness

FrestyleFC3S 02-12-2004 12:24 AM

tada martins brain = work

FikseRxSeven: yo i know why the plug went bad

FikseRxSeven: coolant line right on top of the coil

FikseRxSeven: so we took the manifold off...... leaked some coolant

FikseRxSeven: started the car.... blew the main fuse cuz the water shorted

FikseRxSeven: and found out i have bad wires
