Congratulations. Auto is fine, especially since (all else being equal) they're usually cheaper to purchase and a manual swap isn't unheard if your ambitious. You didn't post up much info, like mileage, mods etc. but it looks nice in the pictures. I think there are better places to do a battery re-locate though.

very nice dude!! one suggestion on the battery relocation though. buy a gel cell miata battery which fits perfectly in storage compartment and doesn't give off and dangerous gases because it is a gell cell type works great autozone has them for like $80

Also, remember that your ECU needs the power to control and you don't want a small battery that doesn't compensate when power is needed. If you are going to be a drag racer who just need 10-30 sec. but otherwise, don't get small battery. Also when you relocate, you need to use a distributor to distribure the ground well. Also go with the largest postive wires (0/1 gauge).





I do agree you need to go with gel type, seal battery. Don't use regular battery inside your car. VERY Important. I use Optima Red tops on all my cars.. including my daily acura. It has good cranking amp and long use time. when my alternator went bad, I was able to drive the car almost 20 miles just with my battery. I was quite amazed.

not to say the last post was wrong but, what problems have you had with a small battery personally? mine has always been great. I just can't see how it could be losing a whole lot of power on say a road course.

I'm not sure how much you know about electronics.. but with my limited knowledge, I could tell you that everything you run on your car pull amps. If your car runs hot, fans will kick in and it will pull amps. Both fan, more amps... When you are on high load situations, the ecu will have to pull more amps to ignite... So, what happens??? You need more amps! If you have a small batter and your alternator doesn't make enough, you will have problems.. why? just think for a second and you'll see what I'm talking about... and not creating good ignition on high load will only cost you more later.



Also, you need to stop acting like you know all about FD's... Because I've seen at least 3-4 posts where you completely mislead people.

Optima Red top if you want to relocate your battery to the bin. Mine fits perfectly with the bin cut out.



I would not get a small battery either unless you are going to keep it in the engine bay, then I would probably urge you to get a small battery. I know when I moved mine it helped cooling tremendously.

just because a battery is small means nothing about its amperage. I had a motorcycle battery which was ranked at 680CA...the stock 2nd gen battery, the full size one, is only ranked at i believe 540CA...and the motorcycle battery was a sealed optima type battery and weighed a 1/3 of the full size regular battery.
