To make a long story short..

This morning my car had hard time starting.

Kinda felt as if the Battery was dieing.

Now I get nothing when I turn the key.

Ive thought Ive been clutch switch issue..

With advice from Ray @ Malloy he told me to jump the clutch switch

with a Paper clip. So I did.. Still nothing.

I suspect the Starter finally has kicked the bucket.

Considering its the 15 years old now.. it was a matter of time..

I stil have some more investigating to do, to be sure its the starter..

My question is..

Is the Starter on our FD's easy/medium/Hard to replace???

Hoping its not one with a bolt, thats impossible to get to..

thanks.. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/blush.png

Its easy, it will take you more time to jack up and lower the car than to replace the starter.

But check your battery's health, the battery connections and grounding first.

Have the starter rebuilt as apposed to getting a new one. Rebuilds are just as good as new, and if you only need new brushes, it will probably (or should) cost less than 50 bucks.

I thought the top bolt was a pain in the but myself, it dosent just thread into the tranny, the bolt goes through the bell housings on the tranny and engine has a nut on the other side which isnt so easy to get to by yourself especialy with all the wires, hoses, power steering and ac all right there! probly took me about 10-15 its just a pain. pretty much like the rest of the car a pain! (that flange on the engine that mates up to the tranny is called a bell housing 2 right?)

I think everything on an FD has a bolt that is impossible to get to. The starter isn't to bad though...throw it up on a lift and an air ratchet always helps.
