NoPistons-

What's up guys. I am building an FD and I would really love your guys' help . https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png . I know there are many knowledgeable guys on this board. Below is a picture of my engine bay. I want to know what I need BESIDES a long block and tranny. If you want pictures of specific areas or more detailed pictures, let me know and I will gladly do so. Please help me out!

It looks like the first thing you should do is find out if the frame is strait and then pick up from there.

FDs are very structurally weak in the area that is bent but you don’t want to finish a daunting project like that without knowing what you have first.

rotarypower101 01-16-2004 09:19 PM

And sorry to say but it will be expensive to find all those parts, as that car was obviously parted out and all the high demand parts people need have already been taken off, meaning you will have a heck of a time finding them all individually to make it worth your while.

Unless you can get a parts car dirt cheap with good complete front clip.

vosko 01-16-2004 09:24 PM

wow you need like a whole nother car to fix that...........wow

amp 01-16-2004 10:07 PM

after considerin rotarypower101s frame check..

looks like a cleanup effort is in order...

grind off some rusts that may be developing..

possibly good time to decide on paint work..

there are a few items from quick dialup views that ive caught..

replace all the lines that have been sheared..

if your considerin runnin without ac... time to eliminate left over piping..

or any other items that you may eventually delete for simplification...

twinturborx7pete 01-16-2004 10:41 PM

don't waste your time with another Rotary.. it will be a lot more expensive..

/\ it would be cheaper.

FikseRxSeven 01-16-2004 11:48 PM

what exactly are the goals for your project?

Obviously, my main goal is to rebuild the car and get it running. More specifically, I want to replace/rebuild parts with better and more reliable parts along the way i.e. ss hoses and lines, bushings, motor mounts, brakes, etc. I am pretty sure the frame is straight, but I will have it checked when I get it painted at the body shop. The front upper crossmember bar that you see bent and twisted was the result of the thieves prying open the hood. I know I can replace that and getting a new/used one rewelded on. Right now, I'm really looking to see what's missing inside the engine bay except the long block.

i think vosko is right by needing another fd to rebuild that car.

Or you could just sell me the rolling chassie for cheap so I'll have a FD to build when I get back to the states.. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Both wheel well liners

radiator

intercooling system

engine

alternator

powersteering pump

oil metering pump

airpump

waterpump and filler neck

Transmission

Starter

coilpack

UIM/LIM

Fuel rails

twins at least and all the rack, vacum lines, tank etc..

two head light assemblies

all three fuse panels

the AC hardlines

ac condensor

ac compressor

wire harness

overflow tank

New fuel lines

battery

Bottom plastic covers

most likely the metal tranny cover

That would be the most of it.

GarageBoy 01-17-2004 09:06 AM

That's the perfect candidate for a LS1 swap. It's been stripped down so much, already.

I have the wheel well liners (just not on the car), radiator, FMIC, headlights, and battery. So how much of the remaining parts are apart of the long block? i.e. what's usually sold with a motor when you buy one used. Thanks for your help so far Fd3BOOST.

Don't know what is considered long block.

You should call Ray at Malloy Mazda and email him the pic. He could give you prices for all the stuff you will need.

I am on my laptop and dont have his number handy. You can call 411 and get the number for Malloy Mazda in Woodbridge VA.

Its off Route 1 @ the corner of Opitz Blvd exit for 95.

amp 01-17-2004 09:35 PM

the motor will not include any accessories...

noticed the absence of an oil cooler setup..

not to mention the clutch line was cut..

I thought long block referred to the motor with all the accessories on it, but that's what I am referring to anyways.
