I've recently done a single turbo conversion but I now seem to be experiencing problems with the idle.

It did it before, but seemed to sort itself out and has just randomly started doing it again.

Basically, the idle will rise to 2500rpm and there is nothing I can do to change it. However, every now and then it will drop and the idle hunts between 800 and 2000rpm

I've checked the inlet manifold and elbow for leaks on the gaskets, which I cannot find. I've also checked the vacuum hoses and again no joy. Finally, I cleaned up and lubricated the throttle body and idle control valve (the outside parts at least).

Could it be that my idle control valve is broken? The car is still driveable, but its just somewhat annoying (and loud).

Thanks

Dan

why dont you check the continuity of the wiring for the idle control valve harness. it could be cracked somewhere and you're getting lower idle every now and again because it is making contact. or maybe make a block off plate for the valve, and just take it off.

make sure all the nipples behind and in front of the UIM is plugged

valve could be sticking, if its stuck open it would idle that high. it might be intermittant like that too.

Managed to sort the problem today, thanks https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Took the valve off and gave it a thorough cleaning with some carb cleaner. Idles absolutely perfectly now.
