The new m2 radiator
Nice fans, what kind are they? Do you know if they would fit with the M2 smic (large/med.)? thanks.

9BASE3 01-14-2003 09:51 AM

They're stockers I think, yes?

vosko 01-14-2003 10:08 AM

stock fans. i have new fans in my FD.... got em from jegs pretty expensive but they flow ALOT :bigthumg:

i think it was these

Do they flow better than stock? What was the final price? Are they lighter? How do they fit? Did you notice a difference? Did you get the adjustable thermo? Sorry for all the Q's... But I REALLY want different fans. They are thinner too right?

9BASE3 01-14-2003 03:12 PM

These say good for a 280HP V-8. I have more than that I think... Will that matter?

vosko 01-14-2003 03:14 PM

my FD runs ice cold. they seem to flow more. i like the adjustable thermostat just raise or lower it in seconds. just gotta pop the hood. they fit pretty good ! i'll take some pix https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

Mr. Stock 01-14-2003 03:18 PM

But it appears that those after market fans impede the flow air around the fans. The plastic shroud is completely blocking the areas which are not "swept" by the fans.

vosko 01-14-2003 03:23 PM

well it works great https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

Stock fans. They should work fine with all m2 products. ie you will still have room for IC ducts etc.

j9fd3s 01-14-2003 05:55 PM

that they do

My mechanic uses the stock fan set up with one change, two of the four blade fans. He thinks the four blade fan pushes more air. The two 4 blade fans sound louder , that I can tell. The 4 blade fan cost $35 from the dealer.

jspecracer7 01-17-2003 06:44 AM

There's a reason that they put a 4 blade/5 blade combo on the FD. Because when you put 2 X 4 blade fans on, the noise will increase(harmonics). 4 blades DO NOT increase airflow.

vudoodoodoo 01-17-2003 07:35 AM

I wonder if they make fans w/ a HI/MED/LOW/OFF switch. That would be sweet.

vosko 01-17-2003 09:24 AM

my fans have an adjustable setting when they turn on.... its pretty nice !

its in the engine bay a little box. if i had it wired through the haltech you could control it that way too.

you mean the cross brace ? you don't have to. i still have mine in my car. that is where the MSD's are bolted to https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

9BASE3 01-17-2003 10:36 AM

Yeah that too... Mines gone. Can't really see the need for strength that far in front of the suspension... Could be wrong, but I notice no difference.

vosko 01-17-2003 10:42 AM

i don't think you need it but i don't see a need to remove it ?

It was rubbing my intercooler. Don't want any holes!

vosko 01-17-2003 11:01 AM

oh it doesn't touch my 3row fmic https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

r_xplicit 01-17-2003 11:52 AM

speaking of the fans and the IC, what kind of wiring did you have to do to get those in?

do you think that they flow better than the stock ones?

how much bigger is the 3 row you have compared to my 2 row that i have?

louis

vosko 01-17-2003 12:36 PM

3row is huge. which core 2 row do you have the Rspec or Vspec. if its the Rspec i would just leave it. the fans seem to flow more than the stock ones. the wiring isn't that bad. the main thing that is nice is that they are NEW. i don't have to worry about 10 year old fans crapping out on me https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png
