I’m thinking about getting another FD. Would like to get to work without wearing my coffee; so, I’m looking for an automatic.

What’s the word on the automatic with respect to durability and/or known problems? Would especially like to know of any tell-tail signs of when one is about to go bad. You know – like smell or color of the fluid – leaking seal(s) – vibration/chatter - etc.

Thanks in advance,

Casus

Well I know for one thing that the automatics sell for cheaper than the manuals. The owners are well aware that their automatics aren't in as big a demand as the manuals. Automatics are 4 speeds. You'll also have better luck finding an automatic in great shape because they don't get bought so fast. When I was looking for a manual FD I would think that I'd finally found the low mileage-one owner car of my dreams. Then I'd see "automatic" and understand why it was still for sale. But the people who have owned them seem to love their performance. In addition, the engine doesn't take as much of a beating since it can't be redlined.

You might want to post your automatic question to http://www.kdrotary.com/

They'll give you a detailed answer if you can wait about a week.

Good luck.
