Hey everyone. I pulled my oil pan to reseal it for leak on passenger side motor mount. I wasn't able to get the pan out all the way from the car. I dropped the pan from theengine and used the 4 inches of space to work with the silicone and re seal it. Now I am going to have fun pulling the pan again because now it leaks from the driver side motor mount.

how simple is it to remove the pan? i have had a leak at the rear mount for awhile now, but it doesn't look easy to do myself. what kinda $$ would it take to get a mechanic to do it?

depends if you call .. supporting the motor and dropping the subframe.. if you want to get the pan all the way out... it is a PITA!!

It was a pain is the ass to do. Luckily I have a lift at work to put the car up. If you gotta do it in you drive way its gonna be hard. I would say that mechanic is gonna charge $300 or more to do it. It took me 5 hours just to get the pan off. I have a lto of nice tools at work so it made things more easy. You gotta jack the tranny up to lift the motor to get the pan down. But I couldn't even get the pan all the way out. It was a pain getting the silicone on because I had only 4 inches of space to work with.



Anyways. it looks a lto harder than is really is. First you should take the motor mounts off and jack the engine up at the tranny. then take all the 10mm bolts off the pan and then pry the pan from the engine. i had to lossen the acctuator too so it wasn't in the way. if you have a stock exhaust then is a pain getting the pass. side moun t oof. it will coume out though.



Also if you have a strut bar over you engine. take one side off and pivot it up, thats because it allows the engine to go a bit higher when you jack it up. I goota do it again and I will post some picks of it soon. ok.

How many bolts to drop the sub frame? Is it hard to drop the sub frame? Thas what i am going to have to do. I have it a little easy wih the lift at work though. If i had to do it in the friveway on jack stands it would be a reaL Pain.

There is 4 bolts and 2 nuts that hold the subframe on. Once you drop the subframe it will be much easier to silicone it in there. By the way what silicone are you using? I use hi-temp black on everything with no problems to date.
