The saga still goes on with the Montego Blue one. I can't understand why these cars don't like for you to do good things for them. All I did was get the cooling system drained and flushed out for the Evans coolant treatment and the radiator was upgraded to a Koyo, changed the water pump (new gasket on the water pump housing) new thermostat, upper & lower radiator hoses, turbo coolant hoses and a hose on top of the motor (under vacuum chamber). I installed new plugs today and changed out the Pettit ECU to the stock one and it still runs like hell. Rough idle low vacuum (aprox 5to7 hg.) won't take throttle past half way (starts to pop & backfire) the vacuum gauge jumps when it starts missing. I can hear the turbo's spinning up but motor wont take any boost or throttle. I've heard people talk about the limp home mode the ECU goes into but when I checked for error codes nothing ! ! ! so I don't know what's putting it into limp mode (if that's whats happening) also major black smoke out of car, really large clouds of it while trying to get it to take throttle. I guess I'll be reading the book for suggestions. Any help from the experts would be appricated. TIA, JAck

No vacuum hoses.....car was running fine before I did the water pump, radiator, and all the coolant hoses (no hoses done except in front of motor) . Ecu's work fine in my other car so I'm stumped so far.

You may have knocked something loose without realizing it.

Lets see......I went back into the car and double checked all the work I had done....nope no vacuum hoses knocked off no hoses cracked or broken while working on car....looking for something elst that puts the car into Limp mode without setting error codes ???? All the obvious has been checked.

hmmn..u shure u hooked up the sensors...just double check them real quick..i mean u got to take like the whole front of engine off to get wp off...alternator hoked up?

.u might of fried a relay, but usally youll get a code...and clearing the ecu didnt help...hmmnnn

map snesor..i think i alredy told u that...hmmnnn

this is wierd

illl keep thinking

I may have a line on what to check Len. I'm just not sure how to go about it. There are some oil injection lines that run just under the water pump housing. I may have pinched one or two of them when I first put the housing back on as there's a bracket that is supposed to hold them and it folded back and trapped the lines between the bracket and the front housing. I caught this when I went back in and I felt the lines and they didn't feel pinched. If they are restricted it may have hurt the front rotor (don't know) and not sure how the ECU would know if the oil is not getting pumped in.....I'll have to go back in and physicaly look at the lines and see if there ok...then I have to figure out if the motor is hurt (damaged apex seal ) ???? This senerio makes sense if not getting oil to a rotor may have caused the problem on one of the seals...maybe not damaged the whole rotor..... I'll keep you posted. Thanks for the input everyone.

well the few drops it woulda missed wouldnt of killed it..nothing to cry abt yet...

well the limp home is caused by either a sensor or something triping the ecu..mine did it b4 ( i had a conection loose for wat temp sensor-top one on housing) but whatever it is still has to be loose/not connected...b.c u tested the ecus, and they work fine...

im @ a loss for what would do it...

all i can say is just go and check all sensor connections again..

sux man..
