i was looking at some cat backs and was wondering which one had a good sould level, mainly looking at the n1 and the greedy ones also maybe a magna flow? not sure yet but i dont want anything too loud oh and is there a big different between stock and dp mp sound level?

Il RX8 lI 06-22-2005 01:21 AM

I have an N1 Dual. Not the loudest but it does sound really nice to me.

Nospig 06-22-2005 03:43 AM

i can make you a custom cat back res style, chambered or baffled. The one on my car is just a res sounds good, deep not as loud as the hks one i took off. 100% stainless steel.

Peter Farrell is one of the best sounding exhausts for a FD.. Sort of pricey but not over the top.

racing beat

PhoenixDownVII 06-22-2005 10:18 AM

A "Good" sound is somewhat opinionated, but if you want quiet and sexxxy, and only loud and awesome when necessary, look no further than Racing Beat Duals, PF, or M2 (Discontinued though...FWIK)

Anything big (like fit a CD in there big) and somewhat loud just doesn't sound good IMHO.

my friend has an HKS, i think, from an FD in his turbo FB, i think its 4" cat back and the muffler outlet is like 5 1/4. it sounds sweet and quiet.

nopistons94 06-22-2005 11:40 AM

my exhaust tip is 4" inches from peter farrell and it's prob the most quiet or 2nd most quiet exhaust. Does look pimp tho ..

no offense but asking someone on this board for a exhaust that has a coffee can look will not warrant you the best answers..

CrassFC3S 06-22-2005 10:03 PM

rusto aluminum and a coffee can over and APC muffler would be loud and have the coffe can look x 2!!!!! but make sure its an angle tip with so much angle water fills it up and you sound like a tug boat going down the street

i2ice 06-22-2005 11:06 PM

well coffee can i mean like i dun likethe oval muffler and then small tip or sometin similar i mean like the greddys and hks and the n1 and some other companies too

i2ice 06-22-2005 11:07 PM

also i saw the blitz nur or some thing like that looks pretty cool

Signal 2 06-23-2005 12:10 AM

FWIW, I've got the GREDDY SP. Came with the car.

IMO, it sounds outstanding under throttle, and has a low serious sound at idle. Seems to be well made with good materials, has a rolled tip and seems to have excellent flow. The downside (and I think just about every cat-back has trade-off of one sort or another), is the frickin' huge size of that tip and drone at highway speed.

Border Burnout here but haven't put it on yet. Should be on soon.

rx7girltk 06-23-2005 11:13 AM

i have the greddy titanium...sounds awsome..deep but when you get on it it opens up and sounds like a rotary.

Nospig 06-23-2005 05:17 PM

Sure if round is what you want no problem ive made many a round rear muffler, lots of old school rx's want them. I can make just the muffler with brackets and have your local exhaust shop weld it on or complete cat back. Any dia you want any exhaust tip you want, straight through, chambered or baffled. All in 100% stainless including the packing so it wont rust or burn out like so many name band ones do! If you dont like the polished stainless look you can paint it in stove paint for a matt black look (sleeper look).

Had the the A'pex N1 sounded and looked childish

Now I have the Racing Beat. Sounds great looks mature and doesn't draw unwanted attention.

I feel that way about my PFS. Perhaps it's because I'm catless (temporarily, of course https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...). I was considering putting two stock mufflers on when I get the fuel cell done, that way I get the flow I need without the excessive noise.
