I'm trying to turn my car into a "sleeper." With all the exhaust systems out there.. it's hard to decide which would best fit my car. I want a catback that offers the greatest power gains w/o all the LOUD ass noises. I'm looking for one with a deep, deep tone but with a relatively nice purrr-(nothing anoyying.. like a honda weed eater..) I have heard people mention that the JIC titanium exhaust has a good deep tone and is good performance wise, but it's Loud... I think a mp, dp, maybe w/ a borla muffler would help out to quiet things down some. Any suggestions? What exhaust has the greatest power increase?-(and is quiet, or can be made EXTREMELY quiet.) What type of mp would be best to make things extra quiet.. resonated mp? Would adding mp, dp, borla mess up or restrict air flow to cause the exhaust not to reach its highest potential? I just need some help on picking out an exhaust, mp, dp, and borla to make my car "stealth" and still using a powerful exhaust. Thanks alot. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Adding a Borla shouldn't decrease any flow, and it'll quiet things down a bit. The Racing Beat Dual is prolly the quietest exhaust you will be able to get... unless of course you run 4" to the stock muffler. I don't know the power differences from the RB dual compared to others though...

RB Dual sound slike a normal car idling, even when you get on it hard it doesnt get close to annoying or overly loud. It has a noticeable tone to it though.

Will a JIC titanium catback w/ dp, mp (resonated) and borla race muffler be even close to the quietness of a RB or M2? but.. what about performance? Will the RB dual have the same power gains the JIC ti?

amp 01-12-2003 07:27 AM

ran pettit downpipe and resonated midpipe with the old rb dualtip catback (larger tips)...

quiet on idle and cruising.....only noticable on wot....this is the setup teknics is referring to..

Its just common sense more free flowing will = more power. There is no dispute that an RB or M2 will yield less power than the JIC set up. But there is also no dispute that the JIC will be a lot louder than the RB/M2 cb. I've heard a JIC vs RB on the same car (setup with DP, stock cat) and the JIC was louder.

yup i was talkin about what ampw as running, swear if i didnt know what a normal one sounds like, and what a normal exhaust looked like they could almost be mistaken for stock https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Actually I downloaded that clip last night. Your exhaust sounds great man. I also downloaded the white RX-7 clip (11.982 white[1]) thanks alot.

I'd rather get a dual tip so I could keep the stock look. I know the JIC should produce a little more power than RB dual, but I don't know if I want it if it's going to be too loud.. but the JIC's I've heard so far don't sound too bad. If I got the RB or JIC would there be any point to get a borla race muffler?

vosko 01-12-2003 10:11 PM

my FD doesn't have the borla race muffler. you can get it later if you think you need it. i don't need it....

I would have to say another good sounding system to consider would be The GReddy SP.

Although I have only heard it once, It did sound pretty deep at idol and WOT.

I wouldn't mind hearing some more of this set up if I could again, If someone has a clip?!?!

cheers

btw..

ive swapped the same setup with greddy sp...

could not discern of any decibel difference in comparison with that of the RB dualtip...

main denominator is the resonated midpipe...

The basic use of a muffler is to quiet the exhaust down, correct? So.. if I eventually get the Borla.. extra quiet..?! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Nightwolf463 01-14-2003 08:41 AM

I was running the Pettit single tip catback system it was pretty quiet around town with a nice low rumble. I never had anyone complain about it being loud and i never got a noise ticket which is common in my area.
