Checked my error codes tonight and got 16. EGR Switch open or short circuit. How do I go about checking this problem and / or fixing it. Would this be the cause of my rought idle at startup? Also my add coolant light seems to go off every now and then, even tho I know for fact my coolant is full. I just flushed the system and added all new coolant. Are the coolant gauges not very good in 3rd gens.. known to go out or not read correctly? Those are my only known problems. One more thing, the car hesitates around 3000-4000 rpms at wide open throttle. Its not bad, but is this a problem? Thanks in advance for any input on these problems. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Don't know about the rough idle at start up but check the FSM on the EGR switch.

You probably still have some air in the system which can cause the buzzer to go off occasionally. Wait until it's cool, remove the filler cap at the AST and fill. Replace cap. Remove cap at the top of the T-stat housing and squeeze the upper rad. hose. You might get some bubbles which will cause the level to drop. Fill and repeat until you don't get any bubbles. This worked for me. And yes, the stock temp gauge in the FD is worthless. Try to get a decent aftermarket guage ASAP.

The hesitation that your describing is pretty common and even referred to as the 3k hesitation or burp. Happens alot if the car isn't fully warm, and you shouldn't be getting into boost until it's warm anyway. Still, I initially had a problem with it on my car (fully warmed) but cured it by adding a few grounds. Battery to body; Battery to Engine and Engine to body. Cost was about $2 in wire and a few crimp connections. IMHO, worth a try. Good luck. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

code 16 is the egr valve, check the wiring really quick, sometimes it melts, but 99% you need to replace the egr valve.

the rough idle/coolant light is prolly the motor.

FYI if you dont cant afford/dont want to get a new temp gauge. You can linearize it.

You should be able to find the procedure in the Factory Service Manual (FSM) which can be downloaded from that same site.
