Anybody eliminated FPD on the stock fuel system? I have 550 primaries and 1300 secondaries with supra pump on a stock fp regulator. The damn FPD is probably failiing on me and i'd like to eliminate it.
Any problems with just removing it? Thanks |
It would be wise to upgrade both the rails and lines if removing the FPD-

How do you know it's failing?

Well, i really don't know if is, but i took the manifold of to change a coolant hose that cracked and i saw that the FPD has a hole on top. Meaning that the rubber thing fell off and it'll probably start to leak there.
My temp fix now was to put a screw on top and put a litle sillicone around it. I pressuriezed the system and there are no leaks. So i might leave it like this... for now. |

on a stock system you cant really get rid of it.
when you upgrade rails and go with an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator it will act as a dampener. |
it's there for a reason. replace it with an upgraded regulator with one built in.

I eliminated mine for about 5-6 months with no adverse effects. I just tapped the hole that it went into in the fuel rail and screwed in a barbed hose fitting and clamped the stock hose on. It ran just fine. I was running a completely stock fuel syst.
I would recommend just upgrading to an adjustable fpr that includes a dampner in it, ie. SX, Aeromotive, etc. And I would NOT recommend running the car with a screw and silicone on the fpd. If the rubber nipple on top of the fpd fell off, then that means the diaphram inside is just hanging loose in there and not doing its job anyway. By screwing into it you may have put a hole in the diaphram. You are just waiting for it to leak and start a fire running it that way. |

If its the money issue, he can always do as you said and tap the end of the secondary rail, put in a barbed fitting and use rubber hoses to plumb in the new FPD |
