Ok, i've been having an odd problem lately, and i've gone through about 5 EGI fuses.

I was driving down the road and my car just stops accelerating, the PFC shuts off, and the car just comes to a stop. I check my fuses and the EGI fuse is blown. I try to start the car again with a new fuse and it starts up after a jump and runs to my friend's house and back home.

So we decide to go to the beach in it and i go to start the car, and the PFC dies again, the damn EGI fuse blew again. So again, i replace the fuse, it pops another one, try again, pops another one.

I checked the starter and the wires are all on tight, i checked the alternator, the wires are all on tight. My friend said he sees a "flash" at my battery or fuse box (he can't tell since its so fast) and the fuse blows. I have ONE fuse left, and i'm getting tired of replacing fuses one after another. I did a search and all i could find was "pull ur egi to unflood" so i'm sure NOBODY has had this problem or something.. i always seem to have the weirdest problems. Anyways, if anyone has some insight or knows exactly everywhere that EGI fuse is responsible for please let me know.. i need to get my FD running again.

Thanks

Pete

My only guess would be a loose ground somewhere.

Well, i guess i can take ANOTHER look at all the grounds, would that be the only reason for the EGI fuse to blow? Tried fixing the terminals so it would try to work, but still blew fuses. I can check though... any other suggestions?

i'd say bad ground somewhere. you have a ground where the PFC is right ?

twinturborx7pete 03-22-2003 10:58 AM

yeah the PFC has grounds right where the PFC is inside the car, but it is grounded securely, that was the first ground i checked, i was recently underneath the car and had removed the UIM, maybe there is a loose ground somewhere or one that touches the firewall.. i'll give it a check.

ok i got it started without blowing a fuse, seems that MAYBE it was the cruise control cable bracket that was resting against a coilpack... near the spark plug wire connection... might have caused an arc.. also there was a loose connector under the UIM that might have been touching a ground, again causing an arc, so i removed the Cruise control... we'll see what happens.. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683329.gif
