Do any of you have one of these, his write up is pretty good and convincing. Would you say his are a good buy or have you seen cheaper ones with the same quality?

I have those on my mini's. Didn't know they were magnetic the first oil change I did. I was a little worried at all the metal you pick up.

looks like they glued a crappy magnet on the the end of a plug

You can get those at your local auto store. I bought one from Advance Auto Parts a couple years ago.

They cant hurt. If you notice the drain plugs in the stock tranny are magnetic. So it must not be a bad idea.

Hell...I'll buy one.

I use them in both of my rx7's The thread size is 14mm x 1.5. If you go to Advanced auto parts they have them next to the pcv valves and accesories and such.

Use it, change your oil, then wip the tip off with a white paper towel and you'll be a believer. Not really any "chuncks" of course, just all the fine particles that are floating in your oil pan. I smile knowing I've saved it from being forced through my motor time and time again.
