Well, today I started the vac. hose/ non. seq. job. It's tedious as hell, but so far I've managed to get the air box, the intercooler elbow, the throttle body, and the upper intake manfiold off. However, I didn't seperate the throttle body from the UIM. The stupid UIM was a pain in the butt to get off, because one of the nuts was worn, so my tools couldn't grip it correctly. Thank god for WD-40, and brute strength. Some of the wires were a pain to get to because of the firewall, but weren't too much trouble. So now that I have all the junk off, it's onto the solenoid rack, and figuring out how to do this non-seq. mod. This is my first time taking apart the engine like this, and I can't figure out for the life of me what some of the hoses and stuff do/connect to, but thats the fun. Well, thats my progress on the work so far. Some spilled blood, cold, stiff, dirty hands, and a sore SORE back. Gotta love the FD :bigok:

Sounds good Kayin. You ran into the typical complaints.
The electric connections in the back are a pain in the ass to reach. I rarely seperate the UIM from the trottlebody when I pull it off. So you are going to a non sequential set up? |
Yeah, well that nut I spoke of was a mistake. It was actually a rusted worn screw holding an electic wire to the side of the UIM. It was also facing the back, so it was almost impossible to get to, and really work with. I literally had to climb into the engine bay to get to it. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png After some tugging, it finally came off. My car being lowered didn't help with the back either...I don't know how some of you guys do it. I'll probably get some ramps.
Yep, I'm going non. sequential with this vac. hose job. I also have to put on my DP for a better affect, but I figure I might as well get the non-seq. mod. done while I'm in the engine bay replacing hoses. Hopefully, this will help solve my 3psi. problem. |

Compare it against this to make sense of it..
I know I have pics of this **** somewhere.. |

I pretty much just grabbed that pic straight from Steves sight . lightning in a world of thunder.
This link plus the one from our website (thanks Rikki) should be enough to get you there.https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png Lightning in a world of thunder dontbearikki.com |
when removing the ol hoses from the solenoids...
cut with an exacto knife first...twist and pull gently.... youll end up breakin the nipples if not careful... |
Ok, thanks a lot guys, and especially dave! I'll be getting started today with the second part of the process.

Here are some good Pics from Dave Disney's page..
this is not a non-sequential conversion though but I think it makes a good reference pic.. http://rx7.voodoobox.net/howto/vacho...s/PA030005.JPG |
