just wondering what you all thought about how possible/practical it would be to install a sequential box in my car ..as a daily driver..

i had always thought that it might be too much wear on a box liike that, but i have friends that would argue.....it seems practical, but i can not speak for it, as i do not have one...

Are your friends online in here... where I can ask them a few questions ??

TIA

no not online here.....a buddy of mine in iami had one in an integra......i just think that they are not ready for the street yet....however there are prolly a few who disagree....they seem better for strict track use...

well i think the box would be fine with it, it doesnt really know the difference between racing and street. it might be hardcore for you though

Yeah I don't think wear is an issue really, it's going to be noisy and harsh for daily use, it might wear you out instead.

shifts on power would be nice though, and the close ratio gearing in a box like that would be really great.

theres a in-car video of a race elise going against a street corvette at nurburing, the gearbox is so ******* noisy I can't imagine driving it every day on the street... at least not with passengers.

the video is there, elise vs corvette at nurburgring

i have got that video too. i love it.....the elise has the nimble abiility to keep up through the twisties, but the vette just has too much torque for that little car to keep up with...

That Elise doesn't have a sequential box. He uses the clutch and the shifter is H-pattern. It makes a lot of noise because it must use spur gears in the box. With helical gears like most production cars it would be quieter. There is no reason why you couldn't use helical gears in a sequential box, they are just more expensive to make. Normally helical gears are actually stronger, but when using spur gears they usually put fewer, thicker teeth on each gear.

BTW, that Elise needs a turbo, or maybe a different track to take that Corvette. Cool video.
