I'm compiling a personal and fourm list of why you might get high ideal.

1. intake maifold gasket wear and leak

2. a leak in the piping to and from stock intercooler

3. downpipe changing 02 reading to stock ECU

4.

5.

6.

please put in you two cents or knock out my ideas

You mean high IDLE. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

Vacuum leaks.

Sticky throttle cable.

Accelerated warmup. (Lots of people don't know why the hell the car flies up to like 3 grand when started...) Start car in gear.

heres a list; someone could put them all together

1. blown lower intake manifold gasket/vacuum leaks AFTER the tbody

2. misadjusted/sticking throttle cable

3. misadjusted idle speed/ throttle stop screws

4. bad bac/aws valves (ive seen one where something got stuck in the bac)

5. stuck tbody (never seen it)

Thanks guys for the input

AS for grngtcfd3s

The reason why the car stops shooting up to 3000 rpms on start up when its in first is the 1-2 switch is turned on. The ECU thinks hey my owner wants to drive now I better not let him launch out of his drive way like a bat out of hell at 3000 rpms and lowers it down to normal. The 1-2 switch is the sensor on the passengers side of the trans. There is only one sensor on that side so take a good look at it it might have a bad connetion or wired might be split.

hold on i'm not 100% also take a look at the safety neutral switch it has BLUE and Green wires.

the engineer you thought of that ideal of the 3000 rpm warm up should be beaten

but like the others said its not that big of a deal

Ideal??????? yea https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/boink.gif

as for ECU problems it ussally never the case with rx-7. i've only seen one ECU go bad and thats becuase it caught no fire

Reason #6 for high idle: You've inadvertantly allowed your fat foot to rest on the gas pedal. Solution: Move it.

i went crazy trying to figure out my high idle replacing vacuum lines and all. when my clutch went i decided to remove my manifolds and found that the lower intake manfiold gasket was blown on both secondaries and one primary port. for this reason mazda updated the gasket to a metal one which is dual layered.
