HY there,

I'm running a fresh rebuilt engine with streetport on the intakes. non seq turbo's. Looking for 300-400hp in the long haul (later with a single GT35R setup)

I'm looking for a clutch to work with my OEM flywheel, single plated (full disc) with upgrade pressure plate. For easy street/trafic use and occasional track use.

Choices up to now are:-

1. ACT street and track clutch system

2. Mazdaspeed pressure plate with OEM MAzda disc (recommended by Mazdatrix)

I contacted Exedy Europe for a recommendations but haven't heart back fromt hem yet.

Any other experiences/recommendations would be most helpfull.

Thx.,

After going for one clutch to another.

ACT is good but you'll suffer a little bit if you are stuck in traffic alot, heavy pedal but it will last.

IF you are concern with heavy pedal effort, go with someting else, Mazdaspeed might be more forgiving. I'm getting old.

ACT 6 puck & HD PP. Seen this setup used in applications over 500hp(can't remember tq ratings). I don't have much complaint about the pedal stiffness.

WIth the 6 puck I'm confident I'll get the shattering feel when releasing the clutch.

Another opton seems to be SPEC clutches.... any any experience with those?

I've driven all... ACT is OK on street. Bit heavy on pedal but not too bad. You get used to it within a week.

Spec, Its bit more heavier than ACT SS and stage 3s are 6 puck. Not bad as I thought (I'll be running this on my BLk FD). But there have been several people with issues with SPEC.

Exedy twin disc. Man, this thing is very nice. but pricey. Not sure if you are making 300-400 you would need twin disc. But over price but feels more like stock.

Herblenny, what sort if 'issues' are you refering to?

I'm considering the SPEC stage 2 or 2+ for the moment, with a smaller option on the ACT.

Which brand would be the ebst with regaards to replacement material and ech support. Please note that I'm in Europe

I have been using clutchnet.com clutches in my customers cars as well as my own. I buy the red extreme pressure plate and use the 6 puck sprung hub, they work really nice for street applications and autocross/roadcoarse.

I went with the SPEC Stage 2+ in the meantime. let's see what that brings.

Cannot speak about all your options but can chime in about the ACT setup.

I have a 6 puck sprung (which is pretty new to ACT) with a extreme pressure plate and a 9.5# flywheel. Talk about hard to drive? It took some getting used to but once I got it, it was easy to drive. Takes a week or so and your go to go. That clutch setup will handle every bit of your HP expectations.
