I talked to an engine builder and he said it could be done but it won't last and may even produce new cracks quicker. My turbos are in excellent shape, so I don't want to buy a new set. Too bad Inconel is way too expensive. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.png

Can the manifold be purchased seperately?

...does anyone have a part #?

Has anyone had their OEM or cast iron manifold welded?

...please post experience if "yes".

OK, after some knudging https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683431.gif I got the OEM '93-'96 part # N3A1-13-450A and it can be purchased from Racing Beat and/or Mazdatrix. Can anyone "please" share the part # for the '99+ JDM 280PS version? ...anybody ...anyone? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...>/evildeal.gif

what are you considering manifold? n3a1-13-450a is the part bolted to the motor by the 4 studs on the rotor housing. n3a7-13-450c is the 95-02 number

GoRacer 02-25-2004 06:34 PM

Err, uhm, huh? The turbos are bolted on to a turbo manifold which is then bolted on to an exhaust manfold which is then bolted on to the short block. So the turbo manifold would be the entire twin turbo unit without the turbos mounted to them (and diaphrams). Sorry, no pictures. Can you verify that part # n3a7-13-450c is for the 280ps version? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

don't worry he knows his parts #'s. His knowledge of them is quite amazing actually!

Corksport can't verify that Type-R manifold part # with Mazda Motorsports. Can anyone verify that it's bored out larger then the stock version? ...it's special order only. JT-Imports, where are you?

If you choose to weld the cracks, arch weld them using nickel rod.

GoRacer 02-27-2004 07:35 PM

I'm going to purchase a new one instead of welding the old one. I just need to find it if it's worth buying the 280ps Type-R version or not (have to special order from Japan). I still can't get any confirmation on whether the tturbo manifold is bored out larger then the 265ps version. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/unsure.png

GoRacer 03-01-2004 11:49 AM

OK, spoke with Mazda Motorsports and was told the part #'s are the same on the Type-R and 250ps versions. Some Mazdaspeed stuff they can get and some they can't. All the stuff comes from Japan so he can't confirm there being a seperate US Mazdaspeed company. '99+ wing end peices are sold seperately, so if you want to purchase the Odula or Mazdaspeed carbon centers you can also only buy the ends. Oh, and we can no longer purchase race and Mazdaspeed stuff without a racing membership (used to be limited to stock)!

I have a stock turbo manifold I would be willing to sell.
