as of late my car has developed a few symptoms. 1st theres this surging that occurs at around 2500 rpms and stops at around 3500 rpms. its got me puzzled.

also, for the last few days. every so often i go to start the car, it starts off fine but then it shuts off. when i start it again it idles fine.

any idea what these might be caused by?

thanks

first problem, bad engine ground. add some ground straps. I have one from intake manifold to firewall, and one from strut bolt to engine block.

problem #2 no clue

My car is doing the same ****. I attribute it to either a loose ground or a vacum leak. Either way I havent gotten off my ass to try fixing it yet. Well i did try once but didnt find any major vac leaks. I'll check my grounds also. Thanks for the tip Jay.

where are the grounds located?? so i could start there, maybe a stock one got loose. dont know why since since the roads in jersey are so smooth.

I am aware of only two

One is on the UIM to the firewall (just like a FC)

and the other one is an exhaust ground. If you look under the car it's connected to the exhaust.

I would replace the stock one on the UIM with a good 4 guage wire making sure to get good contact (remove paint if necessary)

there is the one on the back of the intake manifold, the negative battery cable goes from battery to chassis, to engine. and that exhaust one, which really does nothing. It's intended purpose is to give a good ground for the o2 and overheat sensors.
