Hey guys,

I really need some help here because I am totally stumped.

I just finished installing a new exhaust manifold, 99 spec sequential turbo, and downpipe on my 93 FD.

For some reason, the car cranks but it will not start up.

I have a Power FC and the Exhaust Overheat Warning lamp comes on when the ignition switch is in the on position. This is supposed to mean that a sensor is malfunctioning. However, if I check the sensors with the FC Commander, there is no sensor illuminated. The car was running fine before the installation of these new mods. I didn’t touch anything dealing with the intake, fuel delivery, or ignition system.

What the hell could be the problem here?

I am really starting to loose my cool! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif

is it just cranking ? did you check for spark ? is it flooded ?

Pull the plugs and see if they are fouled.

Yeah,

Spark plugs and wires are both brand new.

Thermo sensor works.

Engine could be flooded I suppose, but I don't see how this would happen.

Everything worked fine prior to the install of the new turbo.

I have a street ported engine with 3mm Apex seals and only about 4000 miles on it (pretty fresh rebuild).

Only sensor I disconnected for the install was the O2 sensor. That is reconnected.

The old midpipe was a real bitch to get off. Is there any sensors/switches around the midpipe pre-cat flange that could cause this problem? I had to do quite a bit of tugging.

Oh yeah. I can't seem to recall if this is per usuall or not. But there is a definate "whirring" noise coming from something around the intake extension manifold. Not sure if this will help pinpoint a possible problem or not. I hope to god I don't have a fuel injector problem. I do know the fuel pump works.

Thanks guys. I always appreciate the help.

i would check the main fuse. its a 120 amp fuse by the battery.

Wouldn't the main fuse kill all the electrical though?

apexkw 11-16-2003 09:28 PM

no...when i was doing my single turbo install my car wouldnt start...crank and crank and crank...some things work and some things dont...head lgihts/ radio worked but interior lights didnt....i dont think the gauges worked either. anyways that was like a year ago and i am not sure what will come on and what wont....but you should check all your fuses anyways

kamikaze_rwj 11-16-2003 10:23 PM

I checked the fuses and they are all good. All the electronics work.

However, I pulled all the plugs out and Vosko was on to something.

They reek of gas and are soaking wet. I'm flooded as a mother.

So, the next question is, how did it get so flooded? Could that whirring noise be a faulty injector? And, of course, what’s a good way to get it uh... “unflooded”?

Pull the fuel pump fuse.

Pull the plugs.

crank motor, gas will spew out, you might want to have a rag or something opposite to catch it. Put the gas pedal to the floor before you start cranking the car. this will keep gas from being injected (the gas in your lines)

crank it till no more gas comes out. Take a few breaks, you dont want to overheat your starter motor.

you can add a *little* atf to keep things lubed up inside, but it's not nessassary.

put plugs back in, replace fuse, adn you should start.
