Today I floored my car from a rolling start to redline in first and then to redline in second. At some point a buzzer went "beeeeeeep". No lights came on or anything.



Is this some kind of warning that something is wrong with my car? It's also possible that I overrevved the engine a bit... is the beep an rev limit warning?



Now I'm worried my engine is going to explode. What does this mean?

That sound is the little overheat warning buzzer that is on your arm console.

It's basically a shift light. If you rev it passed red line it buzzes.

You didn't hurt anything.

Is it a "limiter" or just a warning buzzer? I think you can keep right on revving until your motor comes apart. That would be a rev limiter, for sure.

the 89+ cars have a limiter right after the buzzer
