Hi everyone:
I am new to the RX-7. I am planning to buy a used 93-96 RX-7 R-1. What should I look for when I am shopping for the car. Any sign showing any major engine problems that I have to watch out? What basic test should I do on the car when I am test driving the car? Hope anyone can give me some imput. Thanks BC |

TOFU86....nice name, sounds like one of those Initial D people! hahah, just kidding! :P
some stuff you might wanna check for is if the car has a 10-8-10 boost pattern, you might also wanna listen for knocking in case of dentonation, check if all the recalls have been done (especially on 93 cars), paint condition because the 93's are known for chipping, and check to see if there's any signs of peeling in the interior, and if the motor has around 50k or more miles it also wont hurt to check out for a ruptured lower intake pipe (a common problem on older fd's), and all the other basic things when going around and looking for a used car, oh yeah and another thing to keep in mind is that stock rotaries usually idle @ around 700RPM. good luck! -sam |
