First of all don't let my post count fool you. Im no newb to rx7's just to this forum.

anyways here's my troubles----(old post on other forum)

for those of you too lazy to read it basically it says this

1. car runs extremely rich

2. can't hold idle it runs so rich

3. has trouble on hot starts

4.bogs down in the mid rpms and buckle horribly and soon as you start bosting, but clears up and pulls hard after 4,000 rpms.



To really get all of my problems into perspective though you really need to read my other posts in above link.

I have gone through this checklist of stuff so please refrain from stating all the obvious ones

- MAP sensor is plugged in

-new FPD

- FPR did not have fuel in the vacuum line so im hoping it's still good

- injectors are not leaking or stuck open. Pulled them out a couple of days ago, replaced the o-rings, had them cleaned, and pressure tested them and they're good to go.

- PIM voltage on the PFC is within spec as is also the TPS.

-Car is not in limp mode

- all sensors are in correct voltages and check out ok

- new o2 sensor

-I was getting good spark on all four coils. Im going to double check to make sure this morning but i think they're good

- I just finished checking my compression which was the only suggestion the people could come up with on my other post. I can't give exact numbers becuse cold compression numbers are useless and i can't start my car and warm it up to get accurate ones. But i do have three even bounces/whooshes from the plug holes so im doubting laying the blame on my new rebuild going bad.

-spark plugs and wires are under 1k miles

Whenever I crank the car it wont start. If i pull out the plugs after only a few seconds of cranking they're covered in fuel. When i wipe the fuel off on a paper towel it comes out with black crap on it. Could be oil but im positive that my oil rings are not leaking and allowing oil to burn.

----NEW Development from old posts. Well even after tow starting my car even in the upper rpm's i can't get it to stay running. No matter what i try. It just falls back down the rpm band and stalls. It doesn't even struggle to stay running. PLEASE HELP ME ANYBODY!!! I'm at my wits end on this. There have been other posts similar to my problem this but no one really really had a follow up. There is nothing left for me to think of. I am completely lost and have no more ideas. Any help would be appreciated greatly

what ignition are you using? verify that the CAS connectors are on the right sensors.....very easy to get them reversed. The white one goes toward the center

I rebuilt it myself. engine was streetported and i have downpipe, catback, intake and PFC. My ignition sytem is stock. I'll check the sensors today. Hmmm. One of my crank angle sensors broke when i did the rebuild so i bought a used one. Are the CAS identical. THey appear to be on the outside. Maybe if they are differnent my problem could be here.



oh yeah and my PFC is getting readings on the leading and trailing angles. they appear to be where they're supposed to be spec wise. So that probably means my wiring that has to do with the CAS's is just fine.

NEW DEVELOPMENT- there is no spark on my leading coils. My trailings get spark though. I had these problems before i had no spark so some of it will probably be around after i get this thing figured out but hopefully it'll get lots of it cleared up. also the trailing spark isn't a strong blue. i thought it was supposed to be pretty powerful but it seams kinda weak.

Now where to start with my ignition. I would say my igniter because of the weak trailing plugs, but i havn't touched that thing at all on the rebuild so the wiring shouldn't be bad or anything. And if the wiring hasn't been touched since it ran right it seems it would still be fine. The igniter itself could be bad i suppose, or the coils themselves. I'll begin the electrical exstravaganza of testing tonight or tommorow. I'll get back to you guys on resistances, continuity, wiring and grounds etc.



Until then anyone know why just the leading coils wouldn't spark? assuming my coils are good. ill check them soon enough.

Leadings are only one set of coils, so either the leading coil is bad, the wiring harness may be damaged, or it isn't plugged into the coil.

also, when you get the spark figured out get new plugs. If you have been running on a recent rebuild and have been getting them wet you should change them.
