yep...new clutch master cyclinder, stainless clutch line and FEED big slave....thought that would fix my poopie clutch only to find out my fork busticated on me. has that ever happended to any one else. looks like my 7 will be down for one more week. i think i will install my dragon spec motor mounts while the tranny is out.

Dumbrotorkid 01-24-2004 07:36 PM

mine broke a couple months ago. While the tranny was out i had them throw in a act clutch...your not the only one, I think it's from shifting mad fast yo https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Clutch forks on FCs, but not on FDs.

Hummmm

That suck though man. Thats what sucks about clutch problems. You fix one thing, find its another or breaks another, or you get lucky and just solve it, only so many things you can change though https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/blush.png

ive been there before. and i put the shards right through the bellhousing. there are NO upgraded forks out there anywhere that i have found. when you look at the shards under a microscope, it unbelievable that they hold together from the factory under any conditions....

rxrotary2_7 01-24-2004 10:19 PM

its just oneof the things to add to the list of things to replace every time the trany is out of the car. for the lousy $75 it cost for new one, its well woth it IMO to just replace it.

apexkw 01-25-2004 06:12 PM

yeah i just changed my clutch out like 2-3 months ago... and i looked at it and was like uhhhhh i guess its okay and i dont need to replace it. guess i was wrong. I heard that there was a company that made upgraded forks though. i will search around alittle today and tomorrow and if not then i will just get a new one from malloy. also i heard that this happens more often to 93 rx7's. maybe they replaced it on later models.....on a brighter note...i started polishing my manifolds today. they look pretty good!!

I've heard of a few cases.

vosko 01-26-2004 09:08 PM

lol i was bleeding the slave when i heard clunk and half the fork fell out. sooooo i am still looking for an upgraded fork. i guess by the end of the week if i cant find one i will get a stocker

apexkw 02-08-2004 01:32 PM

okay just an update for future searches. i didnt find a updated FD fork. there is an FC fork. but i found out from Ray at Malloy mazda that they replaced the 93 fd's fork with an upgraded oem part. there are different numbers on the actual castings but Ray said that there is not a different number when ordering. about $70 for the fork from malloy. also i recommend that you get a new throwout bearing. cheap insurance so that you dont have to rip the tranny out again later. mine was completely destroyed

spoolin7 02-09-2004 03:51 AM

just thought i'd chime in and say i'm in the middle of replacing my clutch fork too. i think the cold weather got to it. driving like normal, then clutch pedal got hard and couldn't get it outta 2nd gear. looked in the access panel underneath and sure enough, she snapped. got mine from ray too

the_saint 02-11-2004 06:20 PM

My clutch fork also broke this summer.

Thankfully I have a good mechanic that swapped in a new one for $300 CAD total https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

I too rebuilt the slave cylinder, master cylinder, added a stainless steel braided clutch line.

At least, everything works really well now.

DITTO on what he said. I just put in a new clutch (ACT S/S) and did a little research myself. As a matter of fact, I also spoke to Ray. I have a 93 R1 w/about 60K and it still had the original fork. I was fortunate that others suggested changing it out since I was going with a little heavier pressure plate. Hopefully this is one problem I avoided. $70 is cheap insurance. BTW, I undertand they usually break near one of the dowl pins. Where did your's break? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

spoolin7 02-17-2004 01:25 AM

i finally got my new one in. the pieces were slightly different. the new one looked a tad beefier and had different numbers on it. wasn't too bad to get in. good thing my girlfriend doesn't mind helping me under the car and doesn't mind gettin cussed at when she doesn't push the tranny the right direction! lol

commanda 02-17-2004 03:13 AM

Over a period of several months I did:

Clutch master cylinder

Broken fork

Clutch slave cylinder

Split hose

It's a good thing my mechanic is not far away & the motoring association has free towing for the first few kilometers. It got towed 3 times.

yup they are prone to breaking on the lower dowel pin area. my new fork also looked bigger and the tabs where it slides into the throw out bearing are longer. new numbers on the casting also. 77 - something..lol but the car drives great now. the feed slave i got seems to make it easier to shift now.

amanda i replaced everything at once.. figured if one part was bad the rest was going bad also.
