Looking for a quiet BOV which can take up to 15psi of boost. Is it going to be Greddy Type S or Stock? I saw a posting somewhere saying stock BOV is only good up to 12psi, is it true? Thanks.

i love my greddy type r https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

Anyone know what psi the Type S is good until?

vosko 11-18-2002 07:58 PM

i'd assume 15-18 psi

So we think Greddy Type S is the quietest one, quieter than stock?

i used to work at a shop, and we were always getting greddy type-s' in for warranty exchanges...their garbage from what ive seen, atleast under high boost conditions...if its on a honda or something they'll work ok.

i have the hks ssqv and i like it alot https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Get the Greddy Type R. It'll handle whatever you want and is quiet as ****... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/boink.gif

a nice quiet bov that looks and sounds stock is the KKK units used on many turbo german cars.

i used to have a KKK bov from a audi quatro on my TII and it was just as quiet as stock, yet it is for higher boost aps than the stock mazda on.

find a junkyard with a saa 9000 turo, or audi turbo, and get the quet bov u r looking for....

the greedy type R is valve for high boost (i have one) but not as quiet as stock..............

Can't seem to easily locate any KKK BOV. I guess Greddy Type R is the one to get despite the reliability problem menacefd3s mentioned.

i believe he was taling about the type s

i think that is the purple one and the type are is the bigger silver one.

i have the blitz......kinda

vosko 11-20-2002 10:26 AM

greddy type r is silver and BIG.....i love the sound of mine https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

93VRFD 11-21-2002 11:33 PM

Is the Type R quieter or is the Type S from Greddy?

vosko 11-21-2002 11:35 PM

both are loud. the type r flows more. for twin turbo car get the type s

Just recently converted to the small single, hee hee https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

I have a type r and under alot of boost it is pretty loud. Sound sweet though. The type s is better suited for stock twins. Just stay away from apexi and you should be fine. I've seen several leak and fail.

93VRFD 11-22-2002 11:40 PM

Thanks for the info Silver93t, so Type S is the quiet one to get.

Seems to me Apexi can't make anything good these days (except for PFC), both their BOV and GT wastegate all have problems. What a shame for such a big name.....

r_xplicit 11-23-2002 05:18 PM

i have had an apex BOV for 2 years now, no porblems. i have not had any leaking from it, nor have i had to disassemble it and oil the shaft.....

the greddy type-S bov's are notorious for blowing the spring gasket area and leaking at upwards of 1 bar....

my .o2cents....

i still think that the HKS ssqv is the sweetest one around....i am sorry that i let mine go....

also....the above comment about the KKK and the german car BOV's is true....they are great and quiet....especially an OEM 944 model....
