Well its one of those nights, so im just going to post some progress pix of winter projects.

Had the UIM secondary butterflys removed and the ports gasket matched. My friend did it for me, hes pretty handy with porting.

You can also see in the pic the ceramic coating on the inside of the UIM that was added.

Sorry buddy, didnt see the post.

Ceramic coating is a way of helping to keep either heat in ceratin parts (metal), or stop heat from being absorbed into metal. The parts go through a cleaning procedure to make sure the coating gets proper bonding. The ceramic is then sprayed on and baked for optimum duribility.

Im sure you have heard of heat wrapping your down pipe. Well ceramic coating acts in the same way, without the gaudy thick cloth used with thte wrap.

The hotter air is the better it flows. By CC the down pipe the heat is no longer allowed to dispurse into other areas. Because the CC acts as a barrier the hot exhaust flow stays in the down pipe which in turn makes it flow out the the exhaust faster. This gives better spooling and keeps the engine bay temps down.

I did the CC to the other parts of the car also because not only does CC keep heat in but it also helps keep it out, Its a barrier in both ways. I wanted the cold air charge of the UIM to stay cooler so i had it CC to help it from getting heat soak from the engine bay.

CC is good up to 2000 degrees so any under hood temps that the car makes should not be able to absorbe into the UIM metal as easy as before.

*EDIT* See post "bordem part 2" to view parts i have ceramic coated.

how much is it do get that done?

Mazdabation 05-12-2005 11:16 PM

All parts in other post cost me $220 CDN. I get a bit of a frequent customer discount though. Not sure what it would run you in the states. Most guys go to Jet coat in the US, mine was done at
