I have no mods in my car i just have an intake kit and HKS twin power Ignition, and i have just recently installed a apexi AVCR, so i was wondering would it be safe to increase my boost to say 14 psi or would it be dangerous and i am ruinning high octane fuel...... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/unsure.png

14psi?? Not for everyday driving but maybe at the track. I wouldn't go higher then 12. You need more fuel to go above that and keep reliability

boostdfd3s 06-29-2003 04:41 PM

ABSOLUTELY NOT! you should never exceed the stock levels until you get an ECU and the fuel modifications to support that high level of boost. If you run 14psi on the stock ECU, you will lean out and blow ur engine. sorry to be blunt, but just tryin to keep another 7 on the road https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

I would only go up to 12psi on stock ecu but only at the track. The other thing you have to think of is not just your computer and your fuel but you have to think about the efficiency of your stock IC.

Yeah... Stock IC isn't too good over 12. Seen it done, but that never means it's safe.

Sure an ALMOST 18 year old girl is tempting... But is it smart? Just wait the 13 minutes, THEN tear it up!!

I think even when I get my ic/, rad., etc. etc. I'm probably only going to run 11psi. At least that's what I plan on right now.

Wouldn't be right if I wasn't!!

okay lets say that you have a M2 downpipe, upgraded radiator, HKS Carbon Fiber catback, and a profec b. would running 12psi once and a while be okay, or should i wait to up boost until i upgrade my FP and injectors and can afford my PFC next year?

boostdfd3s 07-01-2003 11:26 AM

thats just adding more airflow. The idea here is that if u run 12psi on a stock ECU, it doesnt see the additional airflow, so it will not provide more fuel. Putting more airflow mods on ur car (intake, cat back, hi flot cat, etc) will just make it that more dangerous. Play it safe @ 10psi now, and get a Power FC to safely up your boost.
