if i have boost creep how can i control it ... i hear people saying you can shave the wastegate, or can you just buy a aftermarket one ??
thanks |
With the stock twins you are going to have to have the wastegate ported. Which requires taking the turbos off.
|
Or add some restriction back into the exhaust ala Hi-Flo cat for a mid-pipe.

To understand what needs to be done first you must know what boost creep is:
Your turbo spins up, being powered by exhaust from the engine a waste gate controls the spooling of your turbo by venting off excess exhaust, bypassing the turbo If you are flowing too much air for the wastegate to vent, the turbo will not be controlled and boost will build in excess excess boost is referred to as "boost creep" To control this you need to reduce the flow of exhaust gasses through the turbo. The 2 ways to do this are by porting the wastegate to divert more exhaust, or to reduce the overall flow of air through the engine and out the exhaust. This can be done with restriction in the intake, or a restrictor plate in the exhaust. The FD turbo manifold has an internal wastegate, you cant really replace it without some mad fabricating skills. |
ok cool thanks alot .... so are those about the only way's to stop it. or what if i get different turbo's or what not ??
|
What kind of turbos?? Most singles have external wastegate. Most upgraded twins are same as stock (internal).
