What boost controller would work best with a Non-seq. FD? I also want it to work well with a power fc, which i will be getting later on. My mods as of now are, downpipe, exhaust, intakes, non-seq. stock turbos.

I was looking at either the Apex AVC-R, or the Greddy Profec-B... what do you guys recommend?? I will be adding a midpipe, smic, and the power fc later.. so yeah.. thanks!

I hada profec b and It is a really nice unit, I personally like the turbo smart manual valve controller.

Im gonna buy one.

I have a profec B but haven't used it yet waiting for my engine to get here.

I know the Profec B is good. But does anybody here use the AVC-R?I hear they are supposed to be really good too.

I have had good luck with the Greddy Profec B. I had the Profec A with the "Fuzzy Logic" when they first came out on another car. Didn't work so well but I've heard they've made it better.

i have an import mag from many months ago and they did about 126 dyno runs with a GST eclpise. from what i remember the profec B was the best by allowing less boost then actual, then it was the apexi but allowing just a hair more. profec A was crap along with the blitz model. if i can find the mag ill scan them and post them

i have the blitz sbc-id.... i love it!

my friends have the profec b and it works pretty good

Benny 03-21-2003 10:29 AM

i think i may give the Profec-B a shot... i had a dash mounted AVC-R on my old car.. and that bitch got stolen... so, i think imma go with something a little less flashy.. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/happy.png

Are you buying it to raise or lower the boost?

You are at the point where you should buy the PowerFC now, instead of the boost controller. I have no idea how well the PowerFC works with a non-sequential setup, but it works very well for controlling the boost in sequential.

Benny 03-21-2003 02:34 PM

Well.. my mods are still very simple right now.. just intake, exhaust, downpipe, non-seq. i want it to lower the boost by about 1-2psi, just to be on the safe side. in the next few weeks and months i will be doing more and more. Next mod is a fmic and probably a pre-programmed ecu, i know i should get the Power FC, but money doesnt permit for it right now. Besides, i think i may be going with Haltech in about a year when i save up the money to go single. So for now, i think ill stick with just a programmed ecu that a friend of mine is selling me dirt cheap.
