Well I think the engine took a **** on me yesterday, what do you think. I was driving at 40mph and all of a sudden I could hear a slight muffling sound and a total power loss. I managed to pull the car in a parking lot before it shut off so I looked under the hood and I could find nothing wrong or out of the ordinary. So I tried to start my car while my friend was trying to see if he could see anything out of the ordinary, but all you would hear when trying to start was the starter and you could smell fuel. Its as if there is no rotation or compression for that matter. There was no smoke coming from the engine bay or the exhaust, no over temp, or weird vibration's of any type. All my IC piping, intake piping, fluids, belts, throttle cable, spark plug wires and spark plugs are good. I changed my fuel filter about one year ago, so I don't think its a lack of fuel. I am going to do a search on how to tell if the engine is getting compression, but if anyone has ever had this problem or has an idea on what it may be please let me know what you did to fix it.

Check your Map sensor + connection

See if there's any coolant left in the radiator. If not, you may have lost a coolant seal, and that's why it won't start.
|
pull the spark plugs and egi fuse. crank make sure year loud whooshes.. if you miss a whoosh your missing a seal :(

I have compression, ignition, and fuel so I think it might be the ECU so I am going to take the ECU to Mazda and have them check it out. Is there a chance that it might be my crack angle sensor if so do any of you now how I might be able to test the sensors to see if they are in good working order. Well these are my two last options so I hope this fixes it because after this I am all out of ideas.

The whooshing sound of compression is it loud or soft. Because if I did not have enough compression could that be why the engine would not start?
|
The sound should be strong. Loud and strong... You'll know if you hear a weak one... Sounds like a grandma fart...
Yes, bad compression can make starting difficult. |
RX-7 are like women when the they breakdown (get mad at you) and then they don't tell you why.
low compression comes from stuck seals(carbon deposit) or general wear on older engines but thats ussually comes on over time so bad or no compression comes from bown seals or oil pressure failure so sounds are good, compression gauge check is better, but sticking your head down there is the best. take a small mirror(dental mirror) and a flash light and have a friend turn the engine will you look at all six seals. if they don't look perfect and you got a problem. |
Well if the engine is gone then that is ok because I am going to Saudi Arabia for 3-31/2 months. So when I come back all that means is engine rebuild with a large street strip port. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
