what up kids, well today I comp tested my motor and im getting 90 psi rear 30 psi front. Looks like its rebuild time and I've talked to Kevin at Rotaryresurection and we're going to be working something out in the december/january time for a rebuild.

I'm basically starting this thread to post pictures of my engine removal, and long block disassembly for the people that are clueless on this! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif Hopefully I won't forget to document the major steps with pictures and such.

I do however have a few questions. Now that its rebuild time, what should I do that I can't think of while the motors out? So far I have these Ideas..

1.Obviously clean the engine bay and maybe respray.

2.Check all fittings, lines, hoses that aren't on the motor.

3.Remove all the emission stuff and other POS things that mazda attached to the car that I don't need.

4.POSSIBLY remove powersteering and A/C while motor is out.(also new steering rack)

Thats all the main things I can think of at this time. Anyone have suggestions? Any postings are welcome !

New radiator hoses?

Stainless Clutch line (if you don't already have one) and a flush of the brake/clutch system?

You mentioned it, but I was thinking those lines that go to the oil cooler(s), I think they have O rings that could be changed out?

Good Idea with the clutch stuff and braking systems. I want to do rebuilt tranny but Im not looking to spend more than 3k here basically. My clutch is also brand new with maybe 2k miles. Motor mounts are whats next

Along the transmission/clutch stuff....if you haven't already....

IIRC, the clutch forks tend to fatigue and break, especially with upgraded pressure plates. They're not THAT expensive, and a piece of cake to put on with the engine already out.

How do you determine it to be an apex seal that is chipped?

Any mods that you have planned for the near future do it while the motor is out to just to make life easier.
