Well I blew my rear today. Funny thing was I wasn't racing, just accelerating from a light. Got on it in 1st, shifted to 2nd, then boom! Nasty grinding and dragging sounds from the rear. I'm almost possitive its the diff. I'll probably drop it in the next few days and look it over. Whats the best upgraded unit? I know there is Kaaz, Mazdaspeed, Quaife, RE-Amemiya, and Cusco. I don't drag race much, but do from time to time. I want something that would work well on the street, road coarse, and drag. I've been in a car with a Kaaz and it made alot of clunking. I'd prefer it to be quiet. My Labreck bushings clunk enough as it. Vosko's RE unit is quiet, but I don't know if I could get a good price on one. I'm tight on funds now too. Any advice?

I just looked at the Quaife website and don't see an rx-7 listing.

never upgraded a diff in the 7.............but i've had good experiences with Quaife in FWD cars. if that helps any, which i doubt it does

RussellTT94 11-07-2002 10:44 PM

hmmm.......... i know that quafe makes a 6spd dogbox for rx-7s, i assumed they made a diff as well

Kazz is the ****!!! well worth the money.... I installed mine and got some "clunking" because I put in cheep gear oil in order to break it in.. then after about a 500-1k miles I put in the Kazz gear oil that came with the diff. Clunking went away... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

i might try some kaaz gear oil in my diff hmmm

I couldn't say as I have had no experience with any aftermarket diffs. But Rikki put in a Cusco once on a buddies car and said it was easy to install and was pleased with the quality off the part. He did make mention of it bieng noisy though.

Well lets put it this way... If you race a lot, and your ass-end slides around (I know mine does)..get a aftermarket Diff and you'll go strait!!!

Vosko... I would definatly recomend Kaaz gear oil....infact, do you know where I can get some?? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png :yum:

I have always wanted a KAZZ lsd. I have heard nothing but good things about them.

vosko 11-12-2002 09:22 AM

anyone that sells kaaz lsd can get kaaz rear oil. first place that comes to mind is rx7.com

I believe Quaife warrants their products for life under any conditions; this includes racing. To me, this speaks for itself. It is hard to find anyone that will warrant a part that has been raced, which is completely understandable. This is attractive to me so I would probably give them a go before anyone. Good luck.

You still have a stock diff???? HA.. wait a little while... when your ass end starts "clunking" I would sujest stoping before you blow your pumkin(sp?) apart.. a stock diff is great for a stock car.. get any power behind your wheels... and kiss it good bye...besides like I said earlier, it helps with traction.. I used to slide all over the place with my stock diff... I put the Kazz in... no more sliding...
