I'm about 2 buy a BOV, what would u guys say is the loudest BOV for an FD, https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif

FikseRxSeven 07-20-2003 04:29 PM

loudest.......... or best......... dont get the two mixed up

trs 07-20-2003 04:48 PM

well i Want a good BOV but it has to be pretty loud, I was told by a friend that the BLITZ BOV is the loudest BOV and that's what i'm leaning towards but I want to make sure that I'm making the right choice before I buy a BOV https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683473.gif

FikseRxSeven 07-20-2003 05:20 PM

yeah blitz is pretty loud

RotaryRevolution 07-20-2003 05:59 PM

ive heard about 5 different bovs in person on cars with similar boost and the HKS super sequential is by far the loudest, i like the greddy type S sound but they arent as reliable as hks. Plus the hks has inserts to change sound

TurboXS RFL it's pretty loud https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

jspecracer7 07-21-2003 09:34 AM

there's nothing wrong with the stock bov's. If your upgrading your bov because it's not loud...then I'm going to call you a RICER...

...can I get an AMEN?

no. no amen. because that sound is ******* cool.

sandmans7 07-21-2003 09:47 AM

The stock bov is pretty loud when you disconnect the side that goes to the intake.

i agree with you completely jspec

i can find a much better way to spend $300 on my car

TyresmokinRx7 07-21-2003 09:58 AM

For me a BOV is there to do a job, not to see how loud she goes.

wraith 07-21-2003 10:59 AM

that's why you get one the does it job well, and sounds good(doesn't mean loud as hell)...i would never sacrifice performance for sound. yet if you can have both....go for it.

First of all, I know I said I wanted a loud BOV but That doesn't mean that I want a BOV for the sound, I just wanted 2 know what would be a good BOV that would would do sound good but at the same time not sacrafice performance.

I'm sorry if it sounded that way. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif

I would never sacrafice performance for sound. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683664.gif

An aftermarket BOV for the stock twins...I'd go with the Apexi twin chamber. I've had the Blitz SS BOV and it was loud as ****....and boost leaked at .8 kilos boost(appx. 11 psi) I don't like the HKS BOV's except for their old style Type R.

I run the Greddy Racing...but I'm not exactly "stock turbo" size either.

Danno 07-21-2003 09:32 PM

I would have to say from my experience the HKS super sequntial sounds great and does not leak like some others do.

EviLPeNEviL 07-22-2003 09:23 PM

I heard that venting the stock BOV will solve the problem........ It's quite loud IMO......

FrestyleFC3S 07-23-2003 12:33 AM

spec r type raycing bov

its only 20 bucks --- paypal : frestylereaction@yahoo.com

ricer!

rx7machine 07-23-2003 12:41 AM

I plan on getting the M2 i/c which uses the greddy elbow (with or with out the bov flange) So, should I just get the regular elbow and use the stock bov or should I get the elbow with the flange and switch to an aftermarket bov? If I get an aftermarket bov for the elbow do I have to take the stock bov off? Sorry if that was off topic.

SPOautos 07-23-2003 10:03 AM

I wouldnt plumb the bov into the Greddy elbow, it will take up to much room and make it a pita to check your oil or change your oil filter. I'd just have a shop wend it to your IC pipe facing inward toward the front of the engine.

Also, I'd prob get a Tial bov. They are very good quality. I know someone that had a prob with the Apexi twin chamber leaking.

JSPECRACER7 - How did you test the bov to find that it was leaking? Just hook it up to a air compressor or hand pump or something like that???

I've got the Greddy type S on our third gen with the flange welded onto the Greddy elbow, it is tight but fits perfectly and checking the oil is not a problem... looks great too!

If any one needs an elbow with flange welded on, I've got a few in stock

shameless plug ^

it's an HKS wheel, slightly larger than a "Q" trim wheel in a A/R 1.04 Housing...lots of lag....lots of top end... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

9BASE3 07-24-2003 09:23 AM

Well I decided to ditch the stocker to "clean up" the engine bay a little. I've plugged the holes on the rear pipe and y-pipe and will have a BOV mounted on the IC pipe between my IC and the greddy elbow. I don't give a **** what it sounds like. I want one that wont leak on me when I do 16-18psi runs. I've never heard what the performance limitations are for the stockers... there may be none, I just don't like all the rubber hoses and clamps. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif
