ok so i'm deciding if i should take it out when i put in a full exhaust...my question is what are the advantages and disadvantages to it? thanks
|
the advanteges:
saves the $1000 pump for later frees up that 6sqin of space under the hood the disadvantages: it confuses the stock ecu, so the car will idle like poop belt contact area on the water pump goes way down, you need the greddy water pump pulley and the special wierd belt |
Just up the idle like i did https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png imo the good outweighs the bad
|
Bad there is bad ??????
|
Only if you care about emissions. If I cared about emissions I wouldn't have gotten a 7.
(Actually, it's still going to polute the same..) |
Also if you're running the stock cat you'll probably clog it? i think?

Is this the case just with the "stock cat"? I've got a "Hi-flo" cat and I was told to keep the pump or risk clogging it too.

ok so say i put in a mid pipe..along with an ecu and all that good stuff..will there be a problem then?
|
There wont be a problem unless you start getting some bad boost creep. If you get the power FC for example, and you have your boost set for 12psi and you creep to 14, your pushing it. Simple solution is to port your wastegate, or set your boost controller for 10psi, and let it creep up to 12.
Another potential downside is the noise level your car will puke out. Most people love it though, AND the flames, who wouldnt love flames? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png But yeah, its way to risky on the stock ecu, so make sure you get an aftermarket ecu first. |
Also, there have been alot of debates on removing the air pump clogging up the cat. Some say it does, some say it doesnt. But to be safe, throw a midpipe on there.
